I hate to be "that guy", but honestly what good is Caligari without a Cesare figure to go with him? And if we only get one figure, wouldnt Cesare have been the better choice? And before we get into the title of the film, the monster is the star, same as Frankenstein. Also, I wonder how many repaints hes going to get.

And, not impressed thus far of what I can make out on the Mars Attacks figures, the aesthetics look non-retro, hopefully painted samples will change my mind.

I don't think you're being "that guy" but I think they had their backs to the wall-- if they're only doing one figure and the film is called CABINET OF DR CALIGARI aren't they pretty much stuck with the title figure?   I agree Cesare has a great look, but so does Caligari-- and you can have him command Nosferatu or the Metropolis Robot until they get around to a proper Cesare.

Same problem with the They Live figures.

Maybe they are spreading them out to have some special figures for all their shows - or are having some licensing problems...?

I definitely agree. It would be cool to see a Frank and George figure with the They Live set. Maybe due to Roddy Pipers' estate, that won't be possible.
The NECA They Live figures look great. (Looking/holding them now). Those are fine as a stand alone pair/set.

I could be wrong, but I think heard that there was licensing problems with Roddy Piper for the Super7 figures. Could be the same for Conrad Veidt.

I did hear that Neca are going to release more from They Live so hopefully they've worked out the Roddy Piper licensing issue and it could even mean more to come from Super7. I hope so at least as it would be nice to have some Roddy 3.75" action at some point.

From a marketing angle, I could see them releasing this lone Caligari fig, then releasing a single Cesar fig.
Then a big nice two fig carded pak from the famous fair scene, with Cesar in coffin, and Caligari as carnival barker.
Marketing (milking) all possibilities from this very old, and limited property.  I would buy each one!

Precisely why I mentioned Frankenstein. We always get the monster, not the main title character.

Respectfully disagree. The They Live ghouls are incredibly "toyetic" and work just fine on their own. I'd still love a Nada figure, but I'd still wager that the ghouls would still outsell him if they were all released at the same time. Also, I'd bet money that there are more ReAction collectors who have seen They Live than Caligari. Caligari is just old fat man in top hat. I'm sure I'll get one at some point, but he's very plain. Not that Cesare is that much more visually exciting, but I digress. Heck, I might even hold out for a color version to fit in with my other monsters. But long ramble aside, if we got Nada and no ghouls I would have been very disappointed.

But to the VAST majority of the public the monster is Frankenstein.

Completely agree. As far as 99.99% of earthlings are concerned Frankenstein is the monster. A similar percentage of earthlings have never heard of the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Of the .001 that have heard of Caligari 51% would be upset if they released a Cesare figure instead of Caligari himself. Obviously,  the other 49% want Cesare instead of Caligari. Once again they took the choice that would incite slightly fewer internet mobs.

Is it bizarre and a complete waste of money for a well adjusted adult man with responsibilities and a family to care for to spend $18 on a tiny toy action figure from a movie that was released about 70 years before I was born? Yes, it certainly is. Honestly, I'm astonished someone is mass producing a figure from a fairly obscure German film.  That being said I will hand them my $18 and say thank you.

Serious first world problems we have here at UMA.

Was just looking at this on the Super7 website, and realized that his arms/sleeves are gray/white, and not black 9to match the cape/jacket. I'm curious why they went with this look, since it now looks like he's wearing a long vest (which he doesn't wear in the movie).

They have released a 3rd printing of the Universal Monster Garbage Pail Kids if you still need some. The only difference is they are in a blue wrapper this time (and probably a small indicator to them being the 3rd printing somewhere on the back of the card).

I was wondering the same thing. Otherwise, I liked it. They have to do Cesare.

The 2nd printing had ** on the backs of the cards (by the Topps logo), so I imagine the 3rd will have ***.
