Unbeatable collection! Eight great films, several docs, commentaries, stills galleries, trailers, and assorted oddities. One of the few pleasures of the digital age. Is there one film that impressed you more than in the past? I used to hate Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman. Now, I realize it was only Lugosi's performance that put me off.

I still have a problem with Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man (FMTW), along with The Ghost of Frankenstein (TGOF). With FMTW - I can see (with adult eyes), the butchery involved to just get the film released. I had always hoped that the deleted footage might have been found by now. Most likely lost forever.I believe that the missing footage would somehow give Lugosi's performance vindication. His performance suffers greatly form the post production editing. Also, the monster has many faces in this film as well. The first glimpse of the monster that we see is not even Lugosi! It's Eddie Parker!

With TGOF - redundancy is on full display as we journey into "the monster meets the kid" once more. Not to take anything away from Janet Ann Gallow, for she is just adorable! But for the monster to want the brain of a child, let alone the brain of a little girl is just ludicrous! I never noticed this stuff as a little boy watching these films, but, as we grow older, the flaws seem to stand out more clearly. I still love all the films in the series. I take the good with the bad and shower them with the love of a parent for his children.

I haven't been on much lately. I was very fortunate to have been chosen to be a proofreader/editor for the latest book by Frank Dello Stritto:
Carl Denham's Giant Monsters. The book premiered at the June 2019 Monster Bash.

In case you're wondering what the book is about, here is a brief quote form the editorial review on Amazon:

"Forty years after Kong's night on the town, Frank Dello Stritto, his wife Linda were living in Jakarta, Indonesia, and occasionally visited the small resort island of Kotok. There they met an 80-year-old man living in a small, fenced house. They soon learned that their new friend was Carl Denham. Over the next two years, Frank and Linda met with Denham often, and learned of his many adventures before, during and after Kong."

I will be signing off until next year sometime. Maybe February or March. I will be diverting my Comcast internet money towards a new Gaming PC build.
Wishing all of you well, and I will greatly miss coming here. This is such a great site. No argumentative people here, like you find on The Classic Horror Film Board! But it won't be for long. Take care, God bless you all & I'll be talking to you soon.

Mike...In 3-D!

I haven't watched one recently, but two of my good friends just gave me the thumbs up to start showing them to their kid. They aren't really into horror or monsters but he's showing an interest.  >:D

It's like seeing it in an entire new print. You start noticing little things that you never noticed before in all the years of VHS and DVD..
Quite an eye opener, that goes for the other films on this set as well.  :)

Thank you Mike. Swapping out the old land line for a cell phone.  As soon as I learn how to use the darn thing, I can check back here. Being away from this place for so long will be like torture!.

A smart phone? One with the internet? (I don't know how these things work.)

Mord

 Tower of London (1939) -
Not really horror, historically inaccurate historical fiction. Mord was great, though. It seemed like he had an axe to grind.
