Lou Reed (1973) -  Berlin
Produced by Bob Ezrin (Alice Cooper), and featuring Alice Cooper guitarists, Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner. Also featuring amazing bass playing by Jack Bruce (Cream) and ferocious drumming by Aynsley Dunbar (Bowie, Journey, etc.). Steve Winwood (Traffic) on keyboards, while the Becker Bros. (Steely Dan) play horns. Is that a super-group, or what?
This album also features some of Lou Reeds best writing. Imo, this is Lou's finest solo outing. No prisoners taken.

I didn't realize all those dudes played on that record. Aynsley Dunbar---that guy was everywhere. He co-wrote "The Warning" on first Black Sabbath record.

I've been listening to some Faith No More cover songs. They always do a great job. Eclectic mix of artists they cover.

Spanish Eyes (engelbert humperdinck)
This Guy's In Love With You (burt bacharach)
I Started a Joke (bee gees)
War Pigs (black sabbath)
I Wanna F%$# Myself (gg allin)
Easy (the commodores)
Reunited (peaches and herb)
Scarface Theme Song (giorgio moroder)

Dunbar did an incredible job on 70s Zappa records. He could go from jazz to metal to pop in zero flat.

Lately, like for a month or so, i've been listening to the stiv bators solo stuff. I know most people hate that period of his but i love the bomp stuff. Very garagey.

Stiv was great with Lords of the New Church, too.

...and Dick Wagner played guitar on Destroyer by Kiss. Quite a crew on "Berlin".

Wagner did a couple of ACE solos. It's a secret. Do not tell any KISS fans.👀🤟

Oops, sorry. I guess Jimmy Page didn't play the solo on Sympathy for the Devil, either. ;)

Mars I think you know your Kisstory better than me---what was the deal on those songs? Was Ace so sh%# faced he couldn't nail those solos? Or was he just a no-show in the studio (presumably out partying instead)? Or maybe a little of both?

I think this happened again at some pt right? Didn't Bob Kulick and Rick Derringer record some solos for Kiss too?

As far as I know, and from Gene, Paul and Ezrin's mouth/claim. Ace was too busy and did not get along with Ezrin. Because of his(Ezrin) demands in the studio.
Wagner did the guitar solo on Sweet Pain....and maybe some others on DESTROYER. Still it is uncertain who play what in the studio. Decades later Universal music/KISS/Ezrin released DESTROYER Resurrected. With the original solos done by Ace. From the master tapes.

On Lick It Up(1983). Rick Derringer performs the solo on Exciter. Another claim that Vinnie Vincent could not get the guitar solo correct. I don't know. Vinnie is definitely a proficient guitar player. Probably more than Ace, Bruce or Tommy. Vinnie was definitely a virtuoso. In terms of his playing. Vinnie Vincent played on a lot of studio albums and tracks. Including Dan Hartman's Instant Replay. Not to mention wrote countless songs and hit songs.

Bob Kulick played on Paul's solo album(1978) and some other KISS albums along with his brother, Bruce.

But, really, those KISS albums have a plethora of studio musicians who were hardly ever credited. Not until it was revealed in later years.

KISS loves their secrets. Not only KISS, other famous bands, too. You would be surprised how many bands/ labels have hired other studio musicians to fill-in.

Its funny. I really like every band the guys in the lords came from but i never really loved LNC that much. They had some songs i liked but nothing like my deep enjoyment of dead boys/stiv solo, the damned and sham.

Yeah. Not everyone liked/loved, Lords. Many of us in the 80s, especially the Goth Kids really embraced Lords of the New Church.

Aynsley Dunbar was an incredibly talented drummer. One would think therefore that Doctor Dunbar's Prescription by the Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation would be an excellent LP:

Well it's not. It's muddy, directionless and underwhelming.
