One of my favorite Romero films.

Pilato's character is definitely one of the outstanding bad guys.  "Harry Cooper" in the original is a good enough role but maybe the overall calibre of acting sets the bar low.   DAWN has ?? as the bad guy ??  The motorcycle gang, yes, eventually, but this tale really doesn't need a 'bad guy' for most of it - the apocalypse nature should be enough to drive the story, which is does. 

Rhodes (Pilato) was more the more quintessential bad-guy - the authoriarian bully who hates all aspects of his situation, and lets that 'out' whenever he can.  Pilato's end-of-film actions are just great, though.   I barely remember the actual end of the film but I always remember Pilato's final chase.
