What is everyone thinking with 4K, especially as it relates to your collections? People already dreading all the upgrades? Do you think it will be ultimately be worth it with it with some movies?  And are you even ready to buy the Universal Movies in yet ANOTHER format?

I don't even have the blu ray legacy's yet!

I haven't even bought a BluRay player yet.

I'm very happy with my blu-ray player and the BDs that I have, but I'm also glad it plays my SDs and makes them look better with upscaling. I never intended to upgrade my whole collection, though certain films and shows I just had to (like the UNI Monsters and Outer Limits). To think about going around again with 4K seems a bit too much for me, though when the TVs and players come down in price I might get them as long as they upscale what I have. I heard that can vary though depending on different models.

Hell No! Most of my stuff is still on DVD. I've bought about 2 dozen bluray essentials (all-time favorites and new releases). What makes anyone think they will stop with 4k? I'll wait for 16k before I upgrade ( I should be dead by then ).

Frankly, I don't think I can tell the difference between a DVD and a Blu-ray, unless there was some restoration done in between. I buy movies I don't have on BD, but I ain't rebuying much, except the Universal movies.

I can certainly live with the DRACULA BD as my final version.

The only time I do a blu ray upgrade is if there has been restoration. Like Universal did. I don't care about 4k, I don't even know what it means. I am close to 50 (48.5). This year I get bifocals. Why do I care about uber improved quality when my eyes ain't what they used to be anyway? I can't see the additional pores on Jimmy Joe's nose anyhoo....so why bother, lol? :-[ :-[ 8)

I have bought some flicks on blu....but only because they never had a proper dvd release. Monster of Pierdas Blancas, Boy Who Cried Werewolf, Without Warning, House of Long Shadows....stuff like that. But sitting down and thinking to myself, "Yes...I must upgrade my copy of Dementia 13 to blu ray because the dvd just is not good enough?" Nope.

You only need that kind of clarity when you watch porn. Like most people here, only a third of my collection is dedicated to smut. Doesn't seem worth the upgrade.

If a film is restored and has an HD transfer it can still look amazing on good ol' dvd even though the film will not be true HD on the format.  I still buy dvd but I also buy Bluray, if I find them for close to the same price as the dvd; no interest in 4k whatsoever.

As of now I'm happy with my DVDs though I would like to see the extended cut of Son of Frankenstein included in the Frankenstein Legacy Set.

There are pluses to a Blu Ray player. They can make standard disks look even better. Plus, and this is a good one for me, they sure seem to play those pesky DVD-18's much better. I haven't encountered any freeze ups on them like I did with my old players. That includes the notorious Lugosi set.
