There is a thread about "Which classic films could be improved by a modern remake" and, while I have a hard time considering movies from the '70s, '80s as "classics" compared to the '30's thru '50s, I suppose THEY LIVE would be fit for a re-delivery, or some 'second wave' film.  Those effects in that film are fairly awful costumings and make-up, but the fun of the film clearly surpassed my nitpicking on costumings.  I always bypass the Kong-TRex ad nauseum alley-fight, too.  "Seen it once, seen it enough."

Although the film certainly has its flaws, I think it has a great premise and I love the concept and the makeup. Yes, it could be improved, but it has good bones.
