Hi Omaha - Wait you want to review Van Helsing???

lol ... I've only found one other person (besides me) who liked Van Helsing.  We're a small bunch. :P

Crazy1van

I liked the IDEA of Van Helsing.  I liked the casting of Beckinsale as a vampire-hunting gypsy, and Jackman as the immortal Van Helsing, I even found the opening with Mr Hyde to be kind of fun, if inconsistant with every other version of Hyde.  But the movie was clearly Universal's attempt to cash in on the success Sommers had with the Mummy franchise, turning a horror icon into a comedy-adventure icon.

There's just way too much swinging in that film, the werewolf crawls backwards up a wall... as a human(!) and turns back and forth from man to monster based on cloud covering, and Dracula defies all the traditional vampire weaknesses established in the novel DRACULA.  With all that going for it, I barely noticed that the Frankenstein Monster had a positronic brain, and I actually enjoyed all the James Bond gadgets the friar brought to the film.  I also appreciated the occasional nods to the horror originals, like the use of the gypsy poem and the treatment of Dr Frankenstein in glorious black and white.

So go ahead and write a favorable review.  I'd actually like to be convinced to give it another shot.

Sounds like an interesting thread proposal. Please start said thread at the Modern Monster movies board as this one is dedicated to assisting with questions and what not.

Thanks guys!

Good eye Brian. That's a new feature that was just installed this morning. It works much like eBay feedback where members are able to provide feedback for one another. It's meant to work in unison with our Classifieds board.

An official announcement (complete with tutorial) will be made later today. Settings for leaving feedback are not enabled for regular members at this time. The staff here is still testing and adjusting things before changing permissions.

Hi guys

Just today (I THINK..) when I try to read other user profiles I get this:

An Error Has Occurred!
Many apologies, but you can't view just any profile.

I think I used to be able to read all about 'em as long as I was signed in. Is my memory off or is this a glitch?

Thanks

DLT

Thanks for pointing this out to me DLT! It should work fine now. There was a profile permission that had been inadvertently turned off. Give it a whirl and tell me if it works for you now. Sorry about that!

MrDark1

Sirs,

I was wanting to add my own Avatar Pic.  I followed your directions from the Induct. Center.

Do I need your o-k for this to apply?  I am not sure otherwise why it will not take.

Thank you for any assistance on this.

If you see that my chosen pic is distorted too much, or that I have to 'square' the picture
and lose the image of the masks hands in picture, I do not want to use it.

Hello MrDark1. You had the wrong url for your pic. Up and running now. And looking good too!

It's slightly distorted. If you want it undistorted, you need to add some pixels to each side, like this. (If you highlight the pic, you can see I added some black to either to make it square.)

Thank you so much fmofmpls!!

Thanks also Mike!!  You cleaned up the image, and it looks great.

Is there a way I could get your cleaned up pic as my avatar?

Cause I don't know how you did that!

Thanks again, to you both for Helping me!

I added the pic to your profile. If you want to copy the pic and put it on your own space, you can.
