Mike...In 3-D!

I had no idea that this was even in the works and I'm very excited about it.  ;D

It was filmed under the code name "The Cellar."

Oooo! Good trailer! But why didn't John Goodman just tell her what was out there?

I was stunned that this snuck undercover.  Pretty successful first film and produced by the hottest name in Hollywood right now.  Interesting trailer

I was totally stunned that this managed to stay undercover.  It was a pretty successful  movie and being produced by the hottest name in Hollywood right now.  Interesting trailer

It was filmed under the code names "The Cellar" and "Valencia." There's some indication that it could be a prequel to "Cloverfield," rather than a sequel.

I can't remember where I read it but an article said that this was originally a movie that was mostly shot but lost its funding. Tacking on the Cloverfield story elements was the only way to get the movie finished and out to theaters. I wish I could remember where I read that.
Just remember. There are such things.

ALWAYS MONSTERING...

Exceedingly low expectations because of the first movie.

A big fan of John Goodman, though, and here he looks like a John Wayne Gacy/Cleveland Kidnapper type.  Ugh.  Boys and their survivalist toys.

It's interesting that the first film is seldom shown on TV, but maybe the filmmakers have rigged the hype-machines to dump it into the network marathon gristmills before this LANE arrives.

Thank goodness MATINEE is available for a Goodman fix.

It looks to me like the monster is incidental to the drama of the underground shelter. It could be like "From Dusk Til Dawn," where the film starts out with one story (the bunker) and then wildly veers off in another direction (giant monster on the loose).

The rumored "prequel" mention has interesting connotations, although Goodman's shouted, "Don't open that door!  You don't know what's out there!" makes it sound like HE knows something bad is.

So, as I spin the rumor mill-grinder a few times, I'm wondering if this could be a same-time-as-orig film, just somewhere outside The City.

Anyone seen what Grovers Mill, NJ real estate was like?
