I understand your point, but its kinda like the great value cookies, they arent horrible, but they will just never be as good as the real OREO cookies.
With Joel spearheading it, it's the real deal, to me. He's hiring the new writers, on-set talent, etc. And, the old cast has apparently already agreed to cameo appearances. This could end up being really good, especially if Shout! Factory backs them with DVD releases. I guess Joel and Best Brains, Inc., president Jim Mallon have finally settled their differences, too.

I first saw MST3k, with Mike Nelson as the host, and I always liked what he did with the show.  However Joel is the creator, and I'd watch the new version, considering that Tom Servo and Crow will still be part of the show.

Trace Beaulieu and Frank Conniff have been working with Hodgson on new segments for Shout! Factory's DVD releases. There will also be a new Turkey Day Marathon this year (online only). So, it'll be interesting to see what gets cooked up, eventually. With Trace and Frank on board, could we see the return of Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank, too?

Gotta have the Doc and TV's Frank:laugh:

I remember taping the MST3K Turkey Day Marathon back around 1989 while we played Champions for a couple of days (nearly straight). A few years ago I burned the tapes to disc before the video degraded. It's pretty cool having those original commercials from The Comedy Channel pop up while watching classic MST3K. Havey, Higgins Boys & Gruber, Kids In The Hall, Stand Up, Stand Up. The Comedy Channel used to be fun...and funny.

Their first Turkey Day Marathon wasn't until 1991. They did it again in '92 & '93. For some odd reason, Comedy Central hired Adam West to host it in 1994. Then, they were back again in '95 with a huge cast of extras (Jack Perkins, Mr. B Natural, Kitten With a Whip, Pitch the Devil, and Michael Feinstein).

Unfortunately, the Turkey Day bumpers weren't preserved very well. On the new DVD collection (Vol. XXXI: The Turkey Day Collection), they have all of the bumpers on Disk Two ("The Painted Hills"). The ones from '91 and '92 are in pretty bad shape. Even the ones from '95 have some glitches.

Well, it was around 1989. I taped some of the episodes before that Turkey Day marathon at different times and the marathon evidently was recorded in '91. On some of my eps it was still called The Comedy Channel and on some it had recently changed to Comedy Central. All great stuff from the golden age of MST3K.

HH, I was just passing along info, not criticizing your memory. The only reason I know it is because I just watched the featurette "Undercooked & Overstuffed: Inside the Turkey Day Marathons" on Disk One of "MST3K Vol. XXXI: The Turkey Day Collection".

I apologize if I seemed defensive. I was standing corrected and a little annoyed at myself for the minor memory muck-up. Those are good memories and I just wanted to get it right.

Happy Thanksgiving, Count...and to all of UMA.

I can see where Crow would be available, but I'm not sure that Tom Servo would be available, with his commitment to the regular show, where he plays Benson.

Looks like I'm in the vast minority here. Always HATED the show. u6juu. Then again in the vast minority I pretty much hate horror hosts too. I was lucky to live in Chicago with Creature Features. Cool intro and then it was shut the F up and play the movie. >:D

If there's a thread on something I hate, I don't bother to comment on it.  There's a reason I don't frequent the "Twilight" fan boards.  I'm also not big on Frozen; but again, if somebody likes that film, who am I to say why I think what they like is annoying and trite?
