Sorry some of you guys aren't happy with Jekyll. We always try to get our production pieces to the level of our prototypes, and I don't think any paint apps were cut on purpose, or for economic reasons.

And we always make sure that the factory can produce a prototype as shown, for the required cost, before we solicit it to retailers -- those are the two main reasons we make prototypes, sales and production. But that's an estimate, and if in practice it is discovered to cost more, then we need to modify. But again, I don't think that's what happened here; sometimes apps from the final paint samples can simply get lost or understated in production. Obviously, that's not ideal, because there's nothing we can do about it, but we try to not let that happen.

From the photos I have seen on eBay, the paint looks to be much better than the Dracula and Frankenstein monstrosities from two years ago.  That was a crime.

The first Herman Munster paint kinda scared me off that fig, hopefully this wave is better

The figures are great, but the paint does vary for sure. I am curious does anyone repaint or touch up their DSTs?

If'n I were a artist, I probably would.

AGREED.  Yes---to Ravenloft. Touch ups occur. My friend could only score a b&w Wolfman. So I painted it color for him.

I fancy myself an "artist" and thought about repainting mine, but then decided not to and to leave them original just as straight from the factory toys. I can always paint UM models instead ( I have a serious backlog of models to be painted!)

Here are a few that I did: http://www.universalmonsterarmy.com/forum/index.php?topic=20593.0

I don't want you to think that I'm not ecstatic about the new figures. Sure, they looked a lot better in the preview pics, but they are still the best figures of the year. The fact that you did a Karloff Jekyll/Hyde should make you eligible for knighthood. I've bought all of the DST product (except the Mini-mates) and enjoy them immensely. I'm glad that the line is ending on a high note and not just crapping out like a lot of other toy lines. Even though I don't like the upcoming Van Helsing figure, I will buy it out of respect for all the great work you have done. Thanks, again.

Okay, stupid (and only vaugly related) story - I work in an office with a bunch of nerds - and one non-nerd, who tends to get lost amongst our varsious conversations - last time, when we were discussing who would win in a fight Jason or Wolverine, she got Jason mixed up with Leatherface "He's the one with the chainsaw?"

Fast forward towards today. I swap out all the toys at my deck for seasonally appropriate ones: all the Unimonsters, Freddy, Jason and Monster Potatohead. I call her over to identify all the figures - monster flash cards, if you will. She points to Dracula next to the wolf and says:

"That's the one that all the teenyboppers like today! The one that sparkles -"

"If you finish that sentence, I will punch you in the mouth."

"Not Twilight then?"

So yes, we need a Lugosi looking vampire STAT! (:

Mord

We all agree on that point, but Lugosi's son is so hard to work with, you might have to go for that great Sideshow version from 2001. It's more or less the same scale as the DST figures and he will NEVER sparkle.

Sounds like you could have put any vampire on your desk and she would have said the same thing. It's not like there's a resemblance.

Hope your coworker isn't involved with anything involving shapes and colors.

Between the models and the mask, he can't be that hard to work with.   ;)

And considering the Chaney suit, it would seem that the big U is the major factor in the hold-up.

According to the DST Facebook Page, it's very likely that the last of the figures will, in fact, be the Son of Frankenstein figure and the Creature from the Black Lagoon figure. :(

No, but she works in the Quality Assurance department at AT&T - make of that as you will. . . . :)
