THIS scene from EXORCIST 3

Easily, EASILY one of the scariest scenes of all time. This was what instantly came to mind. Well done, sir!
"Quite a good scene, isn't it? One man crazy — three very sane spectators."

I always enjoyed this scene from House on Haunted Hill. To this day, it really stands up to a good scare. The witch floating out is very creepy, indeed!

my favorite s when DR.Loomis looks to see if Michael Myers is still there and he is gone. Gave me the creeps
It's all about the Horror.

Mike...In 3-D!

It's a typical one, but the silhouette of Count Orlok walking up the stairs in the original Nosferatu ALWAYS gives me the creeps. It's such a great image.

'Room 237' at the overlook hotel! The old crone freaked me out as a kid. Can't post a pic/clip as I have yet to figure out how to do it on this bloody iPhone.

One of my all time fave scenes is the opening scene from The Mummy.

There are a number of scenes I love from Salems Lot - my favourite Vampire movie.

Alien jumps out and kills Dallas in airduct!!

Hard to pick just one, but the "We're gonna need a bigger boat!" seen from JAWS provided one of the biggest jump scares for me.

Jaws--when Quint tells the story of the USS Indianapolis
The Thing (1982)--When MacReady performs the test to find out who's the thing
Vacancy--While the couple are watching the snuff film, looking aournd their room.

And an honorable mention, not that the scen itself was all that scary, but what happened while I watched it.  While looking for a movie to watch, I read the back for Cameron's Closet.  The write up read about something in Cameron's closet and that his father gets beheaded with a machete in the closet (okay, you got me, I'll watch it), ordered a pizza, took a shower, popped the movie in the VCR and began watching.  The part came up to where the father goes into the closet, and the machete is seen.  The music begins rising, the scenes keep switching between the father and the machete, and it's at this time that my pizza arrived.  At the time I lived in a security aprtament, and the gate buzzer made a make-you-jump-to-the-ceiling type noise under normal circumstances, but when getting into a tense scene in a movie...  I'm sure the delivery guy wondered why I looked so white when I answered the door.
"Listen to them; the children of the night.  What music they make!"  Dracula

There is always a way to scare without being too cheap and ridiculous. My favorite scene will always be this one:

Cat People / La Féline (1942) - Effet-bus

Meticulous and precise. Great art.
"Oh Maghoul, you've done it again!"

Ah yes, the screeching bus  great scene! I remember they copied that exactly in Paul Schrader's 1982 remake, using one of New Orleans' trolleys instead of a bus.
