Had I known Elvira was a redhead, I probably would've had easier childhood.

So I was always that awkward weird red-haired girl growing up. Freckles, pale skin, the whole sh*t. I never wanted red hair, and I always wanted to be something I wasn't.

When I was little, I REALLY wanted to be Elvira. I know, what a role model, right? My mother must've been so worried about me. I wanted cool makeup, and very black hair.
I never knew until my 20's that Cassandra Peterson was in all actuality a pasty white normal looking redhead, just like me. I looked up to her SO much and wanted to change everything about myself, so I could look like her. Little did I know, she looked more like me than I knew.

Retrospect.

Yeah but how cool is it that the person you looked up to, was really so much like yourself all along.  Instant karma at work.  Life is weird that way.

I've interviewed Cassandra several times. Her original concept for Elvira was to look like Sharon Tate in "The Fearless Vampire Killers" (a redhead). Cassandra's role model was Ann Margaret (another redhead). Carol Borland, Bela Lugosi's vampiric daughter Luna, in "Mark of the Vampire," was also a redhead. And, one of my earliest elementary school crushes was on a girl named Kim. An Irish, red-haired lass with skin so pale, she practically glowed in the dark! So, be proud of your bad, pale, ginger self!

Thank you. That's sweet. I've come to embrace it now that I'm older. But growing up was extra tough.
If you ever talk to Cassandra again, please let her know that I will ALWAYS adore her.

You can still dress up as Elvira - especially now that it's so fitting!

BTW, just saw your pic in the "Members Pics" deal - you look damn fine, already!

Can I dress as Elvira too?  I'm bald, have some muscles, no boobs, and am hairy......wait that's a horrible picture...I'd look like Elvira was turning into a werewolf then halfway through decided to turn into a man then stop.  Cassandra is a beautiful woman though and I'm a sucker for redheads...

I haven't ventured that far yet. One year I went as her for Halloween...well, TRIED to. The whole costume was set, and my mom went out to find a wig, but all she could find was a black AFRO wig, and that's what I had to wear. NO ONE knew who I was. I was pretty young (6-7?) and I looked horrible. I cried all of my makeup off and it had to be redone. No one knew what I was. I probably looked like when Cher performed for the Navy troops (sans assless pants) in the 80's.
Now that I'm well aware of how to do makeup, can find exclusive "Elvira" Halloween costumes, I guess I just haven't been brave enough to venture to "THE" costume yet because yeah, the 'fro was pretty traumatic & turned me off to the whole idea.
Maybe one day...

Cassandra Peterson is a genuine sweetheart. I will sing her praises forevermore. I saw her at a convention two weeks ago. A friend of mine had his little daughter there, who is such a fan of Elvira. Cassandra treated this girl like royalty (well, she IS a princess). I'll let my friend tell the story himself if he wants. It would be more appropriate coming from him. But man, Cassandra a class act.

That's awesome. There were so many reasons I wanted to be her. (Not to mention I also wanted big boobies. haha)

Well - there goes my blood pressure.

Yea, I've been taking deep breaths....almost passed out posting the pic.  Just remember, in through your nose and out through your mouth.  Wouldn't want the Mrs to find you passed out at the computer with a large picture of Elvira on the screen, lol.
