I thought this KING KONG figure I saw on ebay looked frighteningly familiar. Is this the cousin of our friend "Alton" Frankenstein?

You have to admit looks pretty similar (if not a little better), made of black rubber, and the seller calls it a "collector sculpt of a King Kong Gorilla Maquette", and says he has no more info on it.

Funny thing, too...he is exactly...18 inches tall! Same as our friend Frank!

Another rare tire company premium?! Hmmmm...

FAR better sculpt.........but eerily similar.
We're all here because we're not all there.

if we find out this is related to the Frankenstein monster and was produced at the same time then we may have a idea of when it was produced? Look at the anatomy on this thing. It is very detailed when you look closely. Far more detailed than any Vintage King Kong toy or vintage monster toy i have seen. I'm guessing a 90's piece or 80's at the earliest. Just my guess.
It's all about the Horror.

Its latex rubber over foam core. Not the same.

Wow, Monster Bob, sure looks to be in the same "family"!
The material it's made of could be important as the Alton Frank is a heavy milky layered solid pour covered with a thin coat of black tar-like paint. Frankenstein73 describes this Kong as probably different in composition. Strange, though, the size and final appearance makes it look to be from a common source.

"Collect them all!" as is said :)

Great catch and observation, Bob!

It certainly does look as if it could belong to the Alton family. The mystery deepens.

Well, I think more than in "proving" they are directly related, this auction shows that this KONG is an admittedly fan-made, better done, and very similar figure, exposing if nothing else the possibility that the "Alton Frankenstein" is not necessarily a "real" manufactured piece, and that the possibility that it IS fan-produced is very possible- a "garage" item, as Richard put it.

And the fact they both stand 18" tall is a very interesting co-inky dink, I think.
