Perhaps I should rephrase- What are those selling for these days?

Hopefully it was chocolate milk to make your meal nutritionally complete.

I'd actually never even heard of the MPC Pop Tops until I saw this thread but I'm now head over heels for them because of the exquisite sculpts . I love the bats that came with the Witch and Skeleton!

I collect vending machine toys, and there were some smaller cast "bootleg" MPC monsters in vending machines of the 1960's.

We want to see more of your vending machine toys! Have you posted them in the Non-Monster toys and collectibles thread?

But the (Ebay) auction is over and it brought $404.00 wow!!!! If a incomplete fake sailed haunted hulk brought that much, how much is my real one worth???(doesn't matter, wouldn't sell it anyway!!)

Actually I don't think you can extrapolate any kind of higher value/prices from that auction. I'm guessing that the top bidders were probably under the impression that the Haunted Hulk included in the auction was itself the real deal.

They sold repop marx and mpc army men and play sets there.

above is the pic I had seen on that marx repop site, its a bit different than the ebay one. But the sails are the same.
and below is the one off ebay.

and heres mine. quite a bit different. i like this one the best!

I'm now wondering whether the Ebay buyer wasn't completely defrauded. Was the site you mentioned also selling re-pops of the MPC 2 1/2" Unbreakable Weird Monster figures? The colours of the figures pictured on the site selling re-pops of figures seem to be the same as the colours of the MPC originals.

In fact, I'm also wondering whether the MPC Monsters have been re-popped by anybody in MPC's original colours? I know that re-pops of the the 2 1/2" Unbreakable Weird Monsters are available in a light neon green colour from the Toy Soldier Company.

Which new Pop-Tops? Who makes them, who sells them and how do their colours compare to the originals?

Bootlegs from Mexico. There's a thread or two around here about them, but I can't find it right now. I think Bane shipped a number up to the states.

Here's a packaged pic of the boots-

The originals were some of my all time favorites & I'll never forget the day I got the (all on one card, btw)
at the local GEM department store.

Needless to say I was trilled to get a set of the boots even though (I think) some of the detail had been lost.

Hepcat

Not bad at all!

I understand that the original MPC Pop-Top Horrors were molded in orange, yellow and purple and some of the repops come in similar colours. Is there a way to differentiate the repops from the originals by markings on the base or something?

Besides color, the easiest way to tell is by the look (and the feel) of the plastic-nobody seems to be able to recreate the right formula. They are always stiffer, more brittle, and shinier, it seems.

Hepcat

I take it that it's the new ones that are stiffer, more brittle and shinier?

When it comes to brittle toys, nothing beats a vintage Pop Top.  A saltine cracker is more durable.
