So I was watching Boomerang while cleaning up before and The Jetsons were on. I love the Jetsons lol.

I own a few seasons of the Flintstones on dvd and of course they are the classic cartoon family, modelled after the Honeymooners etc etc, but something about the Jetsons is just......cooler. It always seems the colors are bit deeper and more rich to me too.

Anyway let's take it to the polls. I have a feeling Flintstones are gonna win, I just wanna see by how much.

Oh wow! I love them both, but I am a Jetsons freak! :)  The flying cars, the cool pad, and all the "modern" conveniences they have, are the things I dream of having in the not so distant future! Plus, I love Jane and George's relationship. It is a little softer than Fred and Wilma's and the Jetson kids are the most-ut!
I also love the whole Spacely Sprocket plant more than the quarry. It's so cool!

BTW, B.L.- This is an interesting poll  :)  I can't wait to see the results!

Dr. Madd

I like the Flintstones. Why? They had to make modern conveniences without modern technology. Out of the box thinking. It's easy to have modern convenience when you  are centuries in the future.

Yes but while the Jetsons had "ultra" modern conveiniences they still had very regular family---which is really the gist of both shows. Dad, mom, kids, dog, bosses...etc.

As much as I love the Jetsons one thing they didn't have was the Gruesomes!

And thanks Charp!

Well, since Scooby and the Mystery Inc. gang aren't a family, I went with the Flintstones.  Tough choice since I like both Jetsons and Flintstones almost equally, but the chemistry of Fred and Barney as friends (especially when fighting) works well.  And of course the dinosaurs, gotta love dinosaurs.

Can't vote C for Both?

Both shows have the same message. The human experience is the same no matter when/where you live.

Personally, I'd like to fly George's air car to the Bedrock Drive In,  then go for some Bronto Burgers and one of those biga$$ racks of ribs. ;)

Ok, I've thought it over; Yes the Jetsons had the futuristic setting with some really cool toys/technology but with all that technology did they ever think to make some dinosaurs!??!  Nope.  Flinstones wins.

Alright I know that the point of the poll was about the family units themselves, for me The Flinstones seemed to involve the wives more into the plotlines of the episodes than the Jetsons did...or is that just me?!  Honeymooners was mentioned as source material but I also get that Lucy & Ethel vibe from Wilma and Betty but then Alice and Trixie had there own little shenanigans on the Honeymooners as well which could have been used to model Wilma and Betty!  My point being that you got to see much more interaction between Fred and Wilma/Barney and Betty than you ever did with George and Jane......Hmmmm, the Jetsons really were a representation of the modern "disconnected" family?! :D

I grew up *loving* almost all the HB cartoons, and still do. It's Flintstones for me. The stories were great, the characters were great, and I have very fond memories of watching them. I watched the Jetsons as well, but the Flintstones were awesome!

I love them both but had to vote for the Honeymooners .. err .. Flintstones.  ;)

I struggled a bit here, just because the word 'better" is open to so many interpretations. I interpreted "better" as the family I would prefer to hang around with. I love them both, but I had to go with the Jetsons. Along with having a cooler theme song, I associate a bit closer with the "white collar" problems of George, rather than the gravel-pit issues of Fred. Fred was a little more bombastic than George and Jane, though still filling the traditional domestic role of "his wife", was cuter than Wilma (though Betty Rubble was cuter than them both.......I'm a sick man). I also dug the flying cars, hover belts, and atro-hoops around their shoes and socks.

I also appreciated Elmo more than Pebbles...especially when Pebbles ad Bamm Bamm sang "let the love shine in"...I still get hives thinking of that one.  :P
Supernatural, perhaps; baloney, perhaps not.

I took the blue collar Flintstones.  Drive-Ins.  The food was better.  Water Buffalo Lodge.  Bowling.  Magic alien pal.  Night in a *haunted* house.  Spy episodes....etc.  Anne Margarock/ Stoney Curtis---------no contest for me.

I was always fond of the J. Evil Scientist family, which hannah Barbera used prior to the ASddams family TV show.  They made appearences in "Snooper and Blabermouth", Snaglepus", and were called the "Gruesome Family" when they appeared on the Flintstones in 1964.  They even had 4 issues of their own comic.
