Another thing you might try, are placing a pre-1975 penny under the battery.  New batteries are smaller then tose made in the sixties, and the real copper penny (new penies are only copper collored) helps make contact.

I really dig the old time circus/sideshow art.  The depictions fascinated the hell out of me - wandering around and staring at the Frog Boy, Alligator Girl, etc.  To this day, they hold a special place in my heart.  Unforunately, I don't own any - other than my own freaky illustrations!

I dated a carny for awhile and she & I talked about doing a jungle princess/wild ape man gimmick!  And no - I wasn't the princess,  !
