I suspect you may be flouting the spirit of this thread. Some of the characters on your list may be from the movies. Just because there's a comic book adaptation of a movie doesn't turn these movie characters into comic book characters. I mean just because James Bond and Napoleon Solo appeared in comic books doesn't really make them comic book characters per se.

there is no intention of flouting the spirit of this thread. with the exception of sookie stackhouse all the characters first appeared in comics before any other incarnation of that character was seen on film or in tv.
my list is completely legitimate, i choose these characters based on the comic character not the film or tv depiction.

Eric Draven appeared in the crow comic by James O Barr in 1989, the crow film was released in 1994
Eben Oleson, appeared in 30 days of night and was published in 2002 the film was released in 2007
Rick Grimes appeared in the walking dead comic in 2003 the tv show aired in 2010

Sookie stackhouse is the only character that was first  a character in a novel then tv and finally a comic, i could see if you have an issue with this character on my list but i still enjoy the comic which features side stories not based on the television plot lines. the comic is well designed and can stand independently of the show so i feel that she is a legitimate comic character.
i don't  know  who made a rule that you must be a comic character prior to any other depictions in order for the comic character to be legit? but i disagree.

the reason i chose the characters was  because i like the comic character. In  the crow, walking dead, and 30 days of night, the comic characters have some significant difference from their movie or tv counter parts which is why i prefer the comics over many of the shows or films based on the characters.
i know my comics and can defend my list with facts

i have been around comics my whole life. I  grew up with comics and i have gone to comic cons since i was a little girl. i particularly enjoy horror comics.
when i saw this thread i  wanted to participate because i wanted to make of list of characters that i am knowledgeable about.
i would not participate in a thread if i had no idea about comic characters, i don't believe in contributing to a thread if i don't know anything about the topic.

the only impeachable character on my list is sookie.  My knowledge of the characters on my list are based on comics not tv or movies. i know my stuff and if you are going to accuse me of flouting this thread you should be able to back up your claim..
im a comic geek and proud. i am a little insulted by your statement.
it would appear your knowledge of these characters are limited to movies but  my knowledge of these characters  is not.

i generally trust the knowledge of my fellow UMA comrades and would hope that if  i questioned an opinion of a fellow member i would try to research the topic before impeach to their post  :(
i thought this spirit of this thread was fun and sharing interests.... there is nothing wrong with disagreement of debate. You can disagree with my list but my characters are valid all the same

Actually my knowledge of these characters is just straight limited. I'm not sure I've even seen any of these characters anywhere. I've just run across their names in ads for movies.

1. Accuse? Impeach? You know you're taking things far too seriously.

2. And I did research. I went directly to an authority on the subject, and have now very quickly learned something more about all the characters you listed. After all, discussion forums are indeed ideal vehicles for the quick sharing of information.

Well you should. Questions act to keep discussion forums lively.

Don't be insulted. Post more of your comics in the comic thread instead. Really! We'd all like to see them.

i am happy to hear that there was no malice behind your post, in other forums comic debate and can get heated and fast.  The comic world is pretty dominated by men so most of the time guys don't really take opinions  of a young woman too seriously, so i have to back up opinions with knowledge.   So if i seemed touchy i just move quickly and swiftly to prove i know my comics.  I seem to have these conversations a lot with guys and  there is something to be said about context being lost during text communication.  i will be happy to share more of my comics thanks especially since these forums seem a lot less aggressive compared to many other comic forums i have been to.. :) thats a relief actually this sounds way more fun and i hope i will be able to participate in more comic related conversations in this forum

So I guess it's about time I finally posted my list over which I've been musing for weeks. I've eliminated the characters that were primarily newspaper strip characters, e.g. Dick Tracy, Li'l Abner and Uncle Remus' Brer Rabbit, or the ones that I first encountered through TV cartoon shows, e.g. Howdy Doody, Beany & Cecil, Rocky & Bullwinkle and Deputy Dawg. In no particular order:

Adam Strange
Cave Carson
Enemy Ace
Sea Devils
Tommy Tomorrow of the Planeteers
Fox & the Crow
Felix the Cat
Hot Stuff
Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost
Heckle & Jeckle
Droopy
Uncle Scrooge

I have to agree.  I have been on a few boards (not many) but most of them have flamers on a regular basis.  One thing I have really enjoyed about this place are the people are great and share their love for what brought them together.  Kudos to all.

I'm going to take this thread for a hard left turn here and say this.

The Marvel Monster titles of the 70's are completely magical. Beautiful artwork and some of the greatest short stories ever. Tomb Of Dracula from begining to end, every issue is epic!

Werewolf By Night...The "Marvel Zombie" Marvel's Frankenstein.....Man-Thing.

I don't know what it is about that era, those colors, that art and the stories but to me they are some of the greatest comic books ever printed.

Wanna instant nerdgasm?? Dracula Vs Doctor Strange=EPIC! "Many have tried to defeat Dracula...and they all rot in their tombs like dogs!!!"--Tomb Of Dracula
"I send my murdergram to all the monster kids, it comes right back to me, signed in their parents blood"

The Marquis
The Crow
Marv
Man-Thing
Gunwitch
Hot Stuff
