There's something off about this sculpt. It makes Karloff look too old, and the eyes seem set too close together. It's surprising, because Horne's sculpts are usually so spot-on.

Aren't all Horne's sculpts supposed to be caricatures rather than realistic? They all have that signature 'old man' look with the pursed lips, distorted features, etc. I prefer a less ironic interpretation of the classic monsters but that's just a matter of individual taste.

I always liked the Alvarez Deniro - there are cool hands that go with that one as well.

I've seen other Karloff Monsters by DH that were less distorted and more straightforward. Maybe those were the anomalies?

I hadn't realized that. The only pair I ever saw in person was this pair that was in an antique store in San Francisco. I think the figure is really among his best.

These masks/busts and figures are insanely fantastic! I really couldn't breathe as I was slowly scrolling down the screen! Wow!! There are some amazing works of art out there, and I need to see as many as I can! Keep those photos coming....please! The Daniel Horne- Glenn Strange on page 1 is one of my favorite pieces to look at! There's something about the coloring and texture of the skin that is so beautiful! I really want to touch it!
And the Hulk Hogan concept Frankenstein appeals to my senses in a wonderful way  :)  It is so wonderful and unique- I screamed aloud when I saw it!
Very Very nice collections, everyone! I can't believe that people actually own such treasures. I am in awe of all your glorious creations/collections!

I think DH has his own style.  He does do masks/ busts that are straightforward caricatures-----like his Alice Cooper-----and he did do a Glenn Strange Frank that was purposely done with oversized features as it was produced for a stage production (from what I'm told)----and the coloring on it is AWESOME, btw.  I think, though, he has plenty of masks/ busts that are his version (he IS an artist) of the subject and are meant to be of the non-caricature variety.  I like his stuff.

I like the finish on this one also - in Scott Solomon's collection:

Scott owns what is easily the best De Niro bust I've seen:

And Alvarez's best - this wax museum Frankenstein. Simply amazing:
