You just hit the origin of my collecting obsession, Mars.  That EERIE #36 was the first Warren issue I ever had, which led to subscriptions and massive back issues.  Every story in that issue is a masterpiece, and remains the best overall issue of EERIE.  This one book is responsible for every monster item I've ever owned.   ;D

It made you the man you are today.......which may explain why James Warren has lived in virtual isolation for decades.

How true, how true!! Quite frankly, having become friends over the past few years, I can say without equivocation or fear of contradiction...........CREEPYSFAN ROCKS!!

WOW.  Those House of Hammer mags are really far out.  Love the cover artwork on those.

I pick up that EERIE # 36 about 8 yrs, for about five bucks. The magazine is good too,
besides the amazing artwork.
The CREEPY #4, I love this cover. Found this mag on eBAY.

Here are two of my Curtis magazines:

While lowbrow compared with the Warrens, Curtis mags still featured some pretty good cover art.

Agree.  Curtis mags had some far out covers, as well as cool interior and great writing.  The Man-Thing cover from Monsters Unleashed #5 was fantastic.  The Man-Thing and Frankenstein stories were the ones I really liked best.  Here's a couple more Curtis covers :

Great covers guys. One thing I have to say tho is that with the Hammer and Curtis mags many times the cover was the prize and the contents anywhere from ok to "meh". I had near full runs of them and after rereading them a couple times just let them go. Again, the covers are great but I doubt the wife wants to be seeing framed vampires ,zombies , werewolves and ghouls in the bathroom or kitchen nicely framed.

Epic magazine looks to have been Marvel's answer to Heavy Metal magazine. Here are scans of the ones I have:

Those cover scans ROCK Hep, especially the Frazetta and Corben covers.  Never had any of the Epic's, but had a stack of the early Heavy Metals (though ony one survived to the present).  Still have 1984's, which were probably Warrens answer to Epic/Heavy Metal.
