Well, I finally made it to Ireland. Saw a lot in two weeks, from Dublin to Cork to Belfast to the Giant's Causeway, etc. Circumnavigated the island. I was on a tour in Dublin when the driver mentioned Bram Stoker. My camera was always at the ready, but a sign for the Bram Stoker Museum flashed by way too fast. It looked pretty funky (I think it may have even had a neon bat on it!). Alas, it got away. I did grab this pic though. I also strolled by the church he was married in. Very cool trip overall. My quota of pints was met with glee.   >:D

Awesome, DL!!!! I would *love* to see any pics from Ireland. One of the very few countries I'd like to visit.

I'll post a few more, but here's a start.
1) Blarney Castle (an experiment using HDR, hence the triple exposed leaves).
2) A "lovely" decoration over the entrance to an infamous prison in Dublin.

1) 5,000 year old mounds in Knowles. I shot this in raw mode, allowing me to adjust the fill light (the mounds were originally way underexposed after getting the sky right).
2) One of the carved stones along the perimeter of the mounds.
3) Beehive houses, around 3,000 years old. This was pretty funny. An old lady owned the property and lurked at her front door, waiting for tourists. When a car stopped she would pounce, demanding 2 euros. I watched her ordering people off her property if they didn't pay up.

Y'all egged me on, so here's a few more.

Just a couple more...
1) This closed shop amused me for some reason.
2) A "green man" seemingly annoyed by modern electrical infestation.
3) In a little town called Dingle, I was told that there were very nice stained glass pieces in a church by Harry Clarke. The Harry Clarke I was familiar with did macabre ink illustrations for Edgar Allan Poe stories and such. I first saw his work reproduced in a couple of early Castle of Frankenstein issues. I trekked to the church but it was locked up. As if on command, the groundskeeper appeared and asked me if I wanted to enter the church. He let me wander around and I found the chapel with the stained glass. I could tell immediately that this was the work of the Harry Clarke I had enjoyed for so many years. Much to my surprise, he was an accomplished and quite famous stained glass artist! And he was Irish. There was no photography allowed but I sinned and took this photo!  >:D
4) One of the Clarke images you may remember being printed in CoF.
Enjoy!

DL! Thanks from me, too! I just found your photos and I am stunned at how beautiful they are! I always imagined that Ireland was a treasure, but now I know it's certain! So many amazing things to see and I bet you have more stories about many more adventures  :)  The old lady and the euros story was unexpected! Your photos are powerful and I hope we get to see more.
