That and the constant swearing in modern films keeps me firmly entrenched in the old movies. I'm no prude, but for the love of Pete.........

I liked this movie. Many people thought it was going to be a Jason Bourne type movie, but it veered off that path and ended up being a quiet exploration of a sad and lonely assassin. Although I do agree about the level of needelss sex and violence. Write a story instead.

BTW, Cool Hand Luke was a great movie.

"Sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand."

"I can eat 50 eggs."

"What we've got here is a failure to communicate."

"Oh Luke, you wild, beautiful thing. You crazy handful of nothin'."

THAT'S movie-making my friend!

I saw "Walt and El Grupo," about Disney and his people making a goodwill tour of South America in 1941. Crammed full of interviews with folks, mostly the children of the people involved, but in a few cases people who were still alive after all these years. Lots of great vintage footage of Disney and companions in Rio, Buenos Aires, and a number of other locations. It also includes many of the sketches and paintings the artists made on their visits, and some animation of Saludos Amigos, one of the films that resulted from the trip. Worth seeing if you are a  Disney fan.

My father was from San Salvador, and he was a life long Disney fan. Every year we went to Disneyland, and his favorite attractions there were "Pirates of the Carribean", and the "Tiki Room". We had a 16 MM projector, and he'd often rent "Three Caballeros", and we'd watch it in the basement of his house.  The basement had paintings from Disney's "Ferdinand the Bull" near the ceiling.  When he repainted the basement, those paintings were not touched.
What ever happened to my Transylvania Twist?

HH, thanks for sharing this. I'm always amazed how many people, from all over the world and all walks of life,  are into Disney. It seems truly Universal. In the Walt and El Grupo film, you could really tell how much Walt Disney enjoyed meeting new people and exploring new cultures, and I think this is really evident even today when you see things like the World Showcase at Epcot.

Moonshadow- I can't remember if I ever thanked you for reccomending Waking Sleeping Beauty, but my husband and I were thoroughly enchanted by it!  :)  I bought it on Itunes so we could watch it in the car and I plan on watching it again before we go to Disney in May.  I now plan on getting  Walt and el Grupo as well. I saw it on Itunes yesterday, but I ended up buying Hercules instead.  I love the Tiki Room, haunted hearse!!  Are you old enough to remember the old version of the show? I am all for change and improvement, but the show at WDW is not as good as the original Tiki Riim show!  Let's all Sing Like the Birdies Sing-tweet,tweet,tweet,tweet,tweet!  was the greatest song ever!   :)

I'm glad you both enjoyed it. I thought it did a great job at telling the story. Funny how things look in hindsight -like they thought the Lion King would be a flop!

I'm a tiki fan so I love seeing all the tiki stuff at both Disneyland and Disneyworld. I just read that they will be opening a tiki-themed restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel called Tangaroa Terrace!  ;D

Awww- Cool!! I will have to get back to Disneyland soon! I've only been once because we only live about 7-8 hours from WDW- so Disneyland is a big treat!!   My favorite part of Waking Sleeping Beauty was the scene where Howard Ashman was singing and acting out all the scenes from the Little Mermaid. It was so touching to see how talented and wonderful he was in that few minutes! That's when I choked up big time   :)  But it was a real tribute to his work with Disney.

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.
