The first film that came to mind when I read this question was "Son of Kong".

I'm sure there are worse ones out there, but compared to the original, SoK was awfully weak.

Great topic - here are just a few:

A Return To Salem's Lot
Salem's Lot - The Miniseries (2004) (I burned the dvd after watching it, that's how I felt about it!)
Exorcist II: The Heretic
Jaws, 2, 3, etc...
Blair Witch 2
The Amityville Horror 2, 3, 4, etc...

Friday the 13th Part 7
there are alot more, but none can come to mind
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

Radioactive Rod Whitenack

Great choices. I'll just add a few.

The Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf
Lost Boys 2: The Tribe
Son of the Blob

Dr. Madd

Madd The Impaler-
Undeadlegend

Dr. Madd- The Original- accept no subsitutes.

Pumpkinhead 2: Bloodwings--unnecessary re-boot and changing of continuity, no Haggis, no mention of Ed harley, and just a general unhindered, unadulterated free flowing diarrheas stream that nearly ruined the character. As seemingly "weak" as Pumpkinhead ashes to ashes and blood feud were--they were masterpieces compared to this.

Return to Salem's Lot--any similarity between this and the first film are purely coincidental

Nightmare on Elm Street part 2,4,5,6,---draining the cash cow dry and completely unwatchable

Jason Takes Manhattan--really?, cmon.

Seed of Chucky--revolting, disgusting pile of excrement in poor taste

Candyman 3--useless excuse for a soft core porno to be made and a waste of Tony Todd's talents

Halloween 6 tied with Psycho 4--or quick, the primary stars are about to die and are in poor health so let's do this--one--more--time!!!!!

I refuse to include any of the really old classics despite their countless continuity flaws, story holes, or bad acting. Because they are classics. But if we wanted to start knocking some Hammer sequels, then I might be tempted to talk shop slightly there. But very carefully because those are classics in their own right as well. :-X

Radioactive Rod Whitenack

I'll call out anybody who lists "Halloween III: Season of the Witch". I really love that movie in all its B-movie goodness. Tom Atkins is a great everyman hero, and the seasonal Halloween atmosphere is great. This was great drive-in fair.

I can't believe that after all these years this film still gets kicked around because it's the "one without Michael Myers in it". Were we all really that cheated that it still stings? John Carpenter's original idea was that they would produce a movie to release every year with the season of Halloween as the theme, which I think would have been fantastic, but because the production company insisted on putting "III" in the title the public rebelled and no other films were made. Instead, they went back to formula.

I can't believe people still can't, 30 years later, accept this as a stand alone film and not a misfit in the Halloween series.

I also support the love for Halloween III Season of the Witch.  I'll admit that as a kid watching this film I had the expectations of another Michael movie/  First impressions were not good, but as I aged i came to love this as the stand alone film it was intended to be.  Great film to watch on Halloween for its feel.  The ultimate reason to watch is it has one of the greatest performances from the Mustache other wise know as Tom Atkins.....genius

as for awful sequels:
Lost Boys 2 The Tribe
All Saw movies after the first
The Hellraiser sequels start to really tank after the third.
any of the Resident Evil sequels

Wicked Lester

I agree with Rod on Halloween 3 that this is a pretty good movie and has to be taken as a stand alone. I wish they had gone ahead with a yearly Halloween themed movie.

There are a few movies listed here that I like. I've learned to just like them for what they are and try not to compare them to the original even though in most cases the original always wins out.
I'll watch any and all Amityville movie.

All the Chucky's

Elm Street 2

Friday the 13th part 4. I thought Jason actually died considering he got the machete in the head. I thought Corey Feldman had gone over the deep end and would eventually be taking over for him.

Return to Salem's Lot. Not anywhere near the classic of the original but if I catch on TV I'll watch it.

Resident Evil 3. Probably my favorite of the series.

Otherwise I agree with most of the ones people have mentioned.
