Everything Gillfan said!  Gillfan did you buy the regular or Elite Edition?  I bought the regular, and am debating whether I want to fork out more for the same ring.  My main concern is if the finish on the regular version will wear too fast leaving that copper color showing through.  I tend to have acidic skin so fake silver/ gold never lasts that long with me.  What do you think?

I have the regular edition but have the deluxe one on order.
I'll probably never wear the deluxe one, just keep it on display.

The Elite Edition (sterling silver & carnelian stone) is gorgeous, but the display box is just cardboard. I'm planning on buying one of those $20 coffin jewelry boxes to display mine in. I might wear it on special occasions, like weddings and such. Otherwise, the Collector's Edition (white metal & resin stone) looks just fine for everyday wear. I've been wearing mine 2 or 3 times a week since getting it in late November, and it's holding up very well. No telltale green band around the finger (so far).

Haunted hearse

I find it amusing that the Deluxe Vampire ring is silver.   When most people think of silver weapons killing monsters they think of silver bullets and werewolves, however, silver stakes, spears and daggers have also been known to slow down and kill vampires. Silver is considered to be a metal of purity and has been used for protection against evil in almost every world culture throughout history.  I haven't heard of Potmetal being a problem, so I would think Drac would probably be ordering the cheaper ring for himself.

That's a fairly recent development, though. No mention in the novel "Dracula" of silver having an effect on vampires. In the Universal Monsters classics, while they hewed to the destructive power of sunlight from "Nosferatu," silver never bothered Dracula and his ilk. Barnabas Collins carried a silver-handled cane (his ring, however, was gold). I think it was the comics that introduced silver as toxic to vampires. Marvel's "The Tomb of Dracula," perhaps. Films and books picked it up from there. Even Kim Newman's "Anno Dracula" book series utilizes silver weapons against vampires and werewolves alike.

...and Lugosi smacked that silver mirrored cigarette box out of Van Helsing's hands, which should have taken his hand with it, if he had a silver allergy.

Actually, Silver being toxic to Vampires was there long before Stoker wrote "Dracula", but he ignored that.  The idea that Vampires can't handle sunlight came from "Nosferatu", and associating Vampires with Bats was an invention of Bram Stoker.  I can't recall any recent comic which has mentioned Silver being Toxic to Vampires, and most people seem to have forgotten that part of the old legends.
