Live with this tune by Satan's Pilgrims for awhile...

I love the Satan's Pilgrims too, but I don't have that album.  I have Creature Feature and their self title release.

As for Zombie-A-Go-Go, technically they are still around.  He just released the Captain Clegg And The Night Creatures LP.  Not surf, and technically only really created for Halloween 2, but hey, maybe there is hope?

I know. One thing about Rob Zombie (as a record producer anyway) is that he didn't skimp on cover design--it always blew me away that besides the cover, they created vintage-looking game box covers for every track on the album.

I love that they released them on LP too..  It would be a shame to have artwork that amazing on such a tiny CD cover.  I need to hunt down secondary copies so I can frame them.

Yeah, I didn't know that they were touring though.   I am marking the Black Cat date on my calendar!  That's amazing.  Are you familiar with the Servotron side project?

My son is talking about driving down from Buffalo with his friend and girlfriend to stay with my other son in Brooklyn to catch the two NY shows. (Asked me if I wanted to go, since he only knows them because I'd play their stuff all the time.)

Are there any specific monster themed songs that I should check out to add to our halloween playlist?

In terms of instrumental surf, almost anything from The Ghastly Ones. Do you have The Deadly Ones album "It's Monster Surfing Time" or "Dracula's Deuce" by the Ghouls? About half the tracks on The Ventures in Space will work as well. The Moon Rays are another band you might want to check.

I'm mainly looking for songs, not just instrumentals. While I love them, for halloween, we usually want something with fun or seasonal lyrics.

I totally love Satan's Pilgrims, I too own Creature Features great LP! Every song on the recording
kicks but. My band covers Vampiro and Gravewalk. Although Gravewalk isn't on LP.

That of course begs the question, what is your band?

Are you aware of the song "Night of the Vampire" by The Moontrekkers?  You can listen to it here, as it has never been released on CD:

http://thesweetestpsychopath.tumblr.com/post/194330560/the-moontrekkers-night-of-the-vampire-2-49

From the description:

The Moontrekkers' "Night of the Vampire" was originally banned by the BBC because of its creepy sound effects that included a coffin opening and a bloodcurdling scream. Joe Meek, a legendary figure in the music world (his most famous work was The Tornados' hit "Telstar" -1962) and a dabbler in the occult, produced "Night of the Vampire" six years before he shot both his landlady and himself dead on February 3, 1967, exactly eight years to the day after the death of Buddy Holly. Joe Meeks is said to have been obsessed with seances and Buddy Holly, and he was said to have left tape recorders in cemeteries to capture the sounds of the dead. Even if you don't think "Night of the Vampire" is all that scary compared to modern vampire music, you have to admit the song's history certainly increases its eeriness.

Thatnks for the link--that's a great song. But it's been on CD on this Joe Meek comp:

My band is called Midnight Feature. We are  Punk/post punk/first wave.
I have a couple of videos posted, in the UMA music section of our practice
sessions. Extemely raw rehearsals though.

IMO the best song from this girl band.

Famous Monsters - Outerspace Deathrace

Sean Yseult, the former bassist of White Zombie use to be in Famous Monsters.
I'm not sure she is still with them? Because she's in Rock City Morgue. Of course,
I have been two bands before.Lol! Where am I going with this?!?!? Haaaaaa!

Ran across this fine collection of Halloween themed instrumentals:

These are less surfy and have more of a late 50s/early 60s feel to them.

Thanks a lot John--These are great! Several things that I've been looking for and a surprising number I hadn't heard before.

BTW, I have this framed on my bar this month:
