I am the Female Dracula

Okay, my dad says he remembers a film he saw on Channel 4 (UK channel) in the 80s that he would like to know the name of. He says it may have been subtitled, but he's not sure. All he can remember is part of it was set in a big house/castle in the desert, the lead guy looked like Jim Morrison from the Doors, and he may have had a blonde sidekick with a mustache.

He can't remember anything else, but he reckons it was from the late 60s or 70s. Any help would be appreciated. I don't think he wants to see it again, he just wants to know what it's called.
"Supernatural? Perhaps. Baloney? Perhaps not. There are many things under the sun...."

"In each of us, two natures are at war--the good and the evil. All our lives the fight goes on between them, and one of them must conquer..."

Dr.Teufel Geist

yep, that's not much to work on, but I am searching...  ;D

gonna throw this out there, sure it's not the film,but...   "The Clonus Horror" 1979, not a house or castle, but a Large Compound in the desert..

He says it was a very very weird film. It may have had supernatural elements, but it wasn't really scary. Just surreal

Sounds perhaps like maybe a film dealing with LSD?

Maybe BLOOD OF DRACULA'S CASTLE? That movie was set/filmed in the Calfornia desert, around 1969, directed by
Al Adamson. Part of the movie is on YouTube, if it helps?!? ;D
"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

Manos: Hands of Fate?

Wait--Torgo had a beard not a mustache.

Never mind.

Dad would like to add that it is SURREAL! And he also thinks that it 'looped'- at the end the film was back where it started.

Oh boy, is this gonna be the next UMA mystery, since the school bag ?   I was wayyyy off in my thought process, I was thinking Circle of Iron or some kind of quest type movie. Hmmmmmm  loops back to the beginning......

Were Karate and or Nazis involved? If so I'd recommend Kill or Be Killed (also known as Karate Olympia and Karate Killer).

If there was student rioting and explosions at the end, then try Zabriskie Point by Michelangelo Antonioni. From 1970 and set in partly the California desert, this would fit the surreal part.
You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.

It's not Robert Quarry's Vampire hippie thing "Deathmaster" is it?

It's not a horror film! I forgot to clarify that. I only asked because you guys have seen almost everything. He says it's an 'art' film.

Dad also would like to add about the ending thing, that it opened the same (sorta like in The Prisoner, when Patrick McGoohan drives the car at the start, and at the end of the last episode) but had a new significance. At the end the lead guy (with really curly dark hair) had decided he would go off to do something, or start another dreamlike thing. It's very hard to explain.

It's not any of the titles you suggested I'm afraid

Ok, so it's not a Horror flick. Well, then I'm stumped?!?
