Low humidity this week in southwestern Ohio, too!  And lower temps.  The past 4 days I have weeded and pruned deadwood and planted daylilies and trimmed and tied up tomato vines and watered and thoroughly enjoyed it all!  It's been too hot and too humid to do much out in the garden(s) for a few weeks, and I really enjoyed catching up on the work without sweating to death!

Good for the soul, eh Elder Robert?

Been busy with my seven & a half year old granddaughter all week.  Wal-Mart, Irishfest, drawing, painting, clay modeling, etc.  In between, she's making me watch TV shows like, I CARLY & THE SUITE LIFE while listening to some singing kid named JUSTIN BIEBER (?).  Wednesday, she helped me clean the garage and crush close to 500 aluminum cans - she worked her butt off, bless her!  We cooked out (hot dogs & turkey sausage) Tuesday, and today we cooked out again (hamburgers, turkey burgers & roasted corn on the cob).  I let her flip the burgers while her Grannie & I sipped some ice cold brewskis (ONE each-WOW!).  She's wore out, but I can still hear her keeping my wife awake as I type!  I've been "roughing it" on the living room floor in front of our big a.c.  Oh yeah, yesterday, she, my wife & I went on an outdoor excursion and found an out-of-way lake (more like a pond) where I told her it looked like a perfect place for Bigfoot to dwell.  She wasn't too sure about that!

It's fun (well, for a while!) to see things through the little ones' eyes.  When Sara & I were at the Natural History museum last week, we walked through the place knee deep in pre-schoolers and summer-schoolers and day-carers by the hundreds.  Never saw so much fun being had in one place!  Or so much noise!  They were interacting with everything that was interactive, and with some things that weren't!  All the dinosaur skeletons were still standing, though--last time I looked!

Halloween Jeff

Yesterday I went to the hospital to pay my respects to a friend of my son, who was involved in an accident early Thursday morning...he was crossing the road in front of his house, and was struck by a pickup truck.  He was taken to the local hospital in critical condition, and never recovered.

He was in a coma, and had no brain activity.  His parents allowed some of his organs to be harvested, to help others.  Ryan was a good boy (21), and a good friend of my son's.  I hated going into his room - it was just a body - the boy we had known for years was just gone....the important part of hm was gone....

Rest well, Ryan... those of us you touched will never forget you.  You leave behind grieving family and friends....

It seems so funny - here one minute, and gone the next...yet the world keeps turning......

Today I didn't want to do anything....

Yea,here in northern IL we have had a really crappy spring. Last year we had not much of a summer. It was pretty cool into July.I loved it. This year too hot too fast/raining every other day and very buggie. We have only sat out maybe 3-4 days this season. One of my fave things in life is sitting on my patio with a couple frosty pints of IPA and reading and occasionally watching my 50' willow trees swaying in the breeze. They are beautiful but messy as hell. chain_saw
And the older I get the more I hate even warm/humid days. 83 and humid is a reason to stay in the basement and watch horror/crime movies. I'm a 62 and partly sunny guy.

I would love to see pics of your yard. I have 14 flower/plant beds of various size as well as a 40' gravel pathway I dug out about 7 years ago. One year we counted individual lilies that had bloomed at one time and got tired of counting at 200. It really is a chore that I swear at but ..and I have to take a breath here to realize I am actually saying this but gardening and landscaping ROCKS!

Totally understood.
My second oldest brother went in for a very minor (so he said) out patient heart procedure 3 weeks ago and a week later half the family was there to take him off life support.
Ya just never know WTF is gonna happen day to day so cherish those around you and and yourself even if times are harsh. If the cup is only 1/4 full at least you still have a cup.

Sorry to hear that buddy. Listen, everything gets easier through repetition. Hang in there. In no time you'll master it all.

You know though........it might just be crappy karma for not comping me some Frostys.  ;)
We're all here because we're not all there.

Cleaned the kitchen while listening to Rachmaninov, and then worked of my photo collections.  3000 headshots and counting, and actors all!

Rachmaninov--I can't hear his Second Piano Concerto without cracking up.  If you've ever seen The Seven Year Itch, you'll know what I mean.

Today?  I just hung around the house whimpering until the New Improved UMA came back on.

Sheesh--I've gotta get a life! ::)

Me too, Dave!  Although I did get to kill some time between 6 & 8 pm to buy groceries & drop off some mail at the post office with my wife!
