Now I am sad......Remco: Phantom and Creature.

Looking at eBAY today, I came across this auction. Two of the very items missing
in my collection. I know very recently the Phantom has been mentioned in posts.
Both on my wish list.

And it's the links are back. Weird. Anyway, I HIGHLY doubt Greg will get that price for those (but if it's possible, he would be the one to do it). Looks like a fishing expedition based on the Phantom the did NOT sell for 5K. Sometimes I wonder if this stuff isn't just swapped back and forth the way many other 'commodities' are, hot potato style until someone with more money than sense bites on it.

There's a boxed Remco Creature up there now and both of these do come up quite a bit, just very very rarely at what I'd call 'cheap'. What's your price range?

I was surprised this particular boxed Phantom even came with the mask. In the past, the mask is or was never included.
Especially a loose Phantom. Lol!!! I would be so excited and fortunate if I could locate a loose Remco Phantom
or Creature. I'm not picky.

I've been very lucky and while neither of these were distributed where I lived as a kid, I got the Creature MIB a decade later and a sealed Phantom in the middle period when it was not such an expensive item. Then I bought a lot on Imperial monsters on ebay (Drac, Frank, Wolfie, Mummy, Kong and 'Zilla) which just happened to also include the Remco Phantom and Creature loose, perfect and complete in '04 for a low low price, giving me a set of the Remco figure MIB (my original four, well kept but removed from box, instructions missing on Frank) and a set loose. Would still love to have the box and figure variations, but that's beyond me.

I have noticed Remco repro-boxes.....then what's the point of having a fake box with a vintage toy.
Then again I have noticed a lot of fake, repro or forgeries online lately. I just hope when I do
find a Remco PH. or Cr. in the box. The boxes are real. I did purchase a Remco Drac. and Mummy
on a online auction( no names mentioned here). The boxes were fake! The contents were not.


Several years ago probably 92 or 93 , while living in San Antonio, TX. I did come across some Remco
Uni-monsters. Unfortunately, they were all damaged( missing limbs, pieces.) But, the flea market
person did have a Remco Phantom. I remember like it was yesterday....and I didn't buy it. Oh well.

I used to be dealer back in the days of ToyShop Mag and a bit on Ebay. I got into the investment/sentimentality thing. Megos/Hotwheels/G.I Joes etc etc..
I made some $$ but it really wasn't that cool or fun the 2nd time around. I found my niche in DVDs/comics/mags and of course masks and props. I will be down sizing my collections again in a month or so. Great deals to be had.
