I'm very shocked & surprised. I thought she was a cool lady. Thanks for the memories, from a fellow Okie.

When anyone who has given this sad old world the gift of laughter passes, it's a loss for all of us whether we were fans of their specific performances or not.  A huge fan of ALL IN THE FAMILY, I watched the spinoffs faithfully, too--and first "met" Rue on the groundbreaking comedy MAUDE which starred Bea Arthur, later to co-star with Rue on GOLDEN GIRLS.  Miss Mclanahan began her career as a stage performer and then went to tv.  Her career included appearances in a number of movies, including STARSHIP TROOPERS!  In private life, she worked tirelessly with organizations fighting cancer, AIDS, and cruelty to animals.

You did it with STYLE, Rue!  With great style....

I am soooooo disappointed I must have been the only man that Blanche never asked out. R.i.p Rue you were always good for a laugh.

LOVED the Golden Girls, and her performance as a swinger that Edith invited over to spend the night with herself and Archie on "All In The Family" had me rolling, and was my first introduction to her talents.

RIP Rue.

I remember Rue's supporting roles from shows like "Maude" and "Mama's Family", but it's as Blanche that I've seen the most of her. When "The Golden Girls" was a staple of the Lifetime channel's morning lineup, I watched the show nearly every day. It's sad that Betty White is the only surviving major cast member left to us. RIP Rue.
