Hahaha as if. What day in 2012, January first at 12:01 AM or just some time in the next 365 days? What do I think? Everyone's world ends, but in different years. And when they least expect it.

They made a round calendar.  They probably figured that from when they made it to 2012 was enough time to make a new one.

My 2009 calendar ended at December 31st, but it turned out that 2010 came anyway.

People have been waitin' on the end of the world for a very, very long time. It's been predicted by numerous sects and thinkers and fearful followers would await the appointed day of doom and... and we're still here.

The 2012 apocalypse thing is based on simple misunderstanding of an ancient culture, and of the scale in which they measured their cycles of time.

Read Anthony Aveni, a Maya expert and archaeoastronomer at Colgate University in New York:
"It's the time when the largest grand cycle in the Mayan calendar overturns and a new cycle begins."

It's the end of a cycle of time -- not the end of time itself, and in fact the Maya never thought of it as anything more. Some modern folks find it compelling and fearful because the Mayans just kept time on a scale few other cultures have considered.

During the empire's heyday, the Maya invented the Long Count -- "a lengthy circular calendar," according to Aveni, "that transplanted the roots of Maya culture all the way back to creation itself." The largest grand cycle in their reckoning is a bit over 5,125 years... after that, time renews; it doesn't stop.

We do similar, smaller scale renewal every New Year... some peple do it every Monday morning.

It's just cycles. What you attach to it spiritually, geologically, or any other -ally, is entirely up to you -- in any event, it can't be pinned on the Mayans.

The hoopla surrounding it is just the Millennium Madness all over again. Ironically, the Mayans didn't ever view the coming of the end of their Long Count with fear for themselves or their culture. It was a significant date to them, but for renewal, not disaster.

All the quakes, floods, rogue planets, and other concepts thrown about regarding the physical catalysts of doom during 2012 are just junk science added to the initial confusion to sell books, magazines, movies and in some cases even sell religious conversion and fan fears that can be manipulated.

I hope we're all happy and healthy tomorrow, never mind 2012.

Should be amusing to see how many people panic from Aug. thru Dec. 2012.   Throughout 2013 i'm gonna laugh at people and passing out "I told you so".

Also, the Mayan calendar has gone for all this time, but their civilization ended a long time ago.  So, just because you're calendar continues, doesn't mean you will.

I remember back in 1999 with the whole Y2K thing.

I had just started working at a motorcycle dealership (was there a loooooong time) and we sold generators as well.

The owner was a great guy who I learned alot from. We were selling generators...generators that were 1000.00! like they were hot cakes.

I can remember the owner looking out the window from his office shaking his head, he later told me when we were closing "I wish it was the end of the world everyday!"

I like to think 1 of 2 things will happen in 2012...1, I'll wake up and a bunch of apes will throw a net on me and lock me in a cage with Nova (hubba hubba!) or 2, The Robinson family will finally land that Jupiter 2 back in Houston.

Only two really important points to remember:

1. SOME day, this world WILL end.

2. It DOES end for all of us, at our own specific time.
