Congratulations on your new "baby." Where did you get him? I keep my fingers crossed at every yard sale that I go to that someday among the aquariums I might find one for cheap.
Rob
That's a tough piece. Congratulations!
I remember seeing those in Woolworth's when I was a little kid, and begging my mother to buy it for me. We didn't have a fish aquarium, so it was a no go. lol
hi rob i picked him up off ebay for a nice price 8) i have been looking for years myself but if i find one i will let you know thanks my friend :)
thanks old timey thats a great story they sold them in woolworths wow i never knew that thanks again guys for the great comments 8)
I actually got a email reply from PennPlax about reissung this guy, and he said they literally get 50 emails a week about getting him rereleased.
You'd think they would want to make money off it by now...
Congrats! Great to see one in the packaging. Mine is loose and has a few claws missing....
That is a great score, and a classic monster collectible for sure! Congratulations!
Congratulations! It is a cool piece. I'm sure Penn Plax will wait until I finally buy one, then rerelease it the following week.
thanks for the comments gareee, terry, andy, and ray i really apreciate it :) this has made my day ;D

I wonder if they still have the molds, printing plates, etc. for that?

If they don't, Mexico does.

I don't trust anything being sold from Mexico or Argentina. I think most of the stuff (this Penn Creature included) is simply recast off an original. Like the 'rubber Aurora Creature' from Mexico. Vintage? Pffffft.
CONGRATS! Always a wonderful addition to any classic monster toy collection. I found mine in a pet shop out here on eastern LI during the late 70's. I 've had it on display in a cabinet ever since and what KILLS me is for the life of me, i CAN'T find the box! I know i knew better by this time than to throw away packaging...must have suffered the same fate that many of my socks have over the years. Oh well, still have the figure in perfect condition and that's what really matters... Enjoy yours in good health!!
thanks gasport that was a cool story thanks for sharing it :)
Has anyone ever seen a Penn Plax Creature in action? I own the figure, but not an aquarium full of fish. Nor will I anytime soon. I searched YouTube for a video but to no avail.
Of course! I had him as a kidd.. basically he does a lot of "bowing".
And if I had another, I'd have him in a tank, along with a small seaview model!
I remember good tipping action (which was powered by bubbles entering the upper half of the figure) was dependant on his positioning in the aquarium gravel. If the base wasn't cocked slightly back a little, the figure would hold in a forward position and bubbles would endlessly come out of his lower back.

Sounds familiar.... ;D
I had one in the fish tank as a kid, and I loved it! I remember that it broke and we got another one, I just wish I still had it.
All I can say is.......I'm speechless. Total shock, and nice score!!!! Once on eBAY I had seen this Aquarium delight.
I only wish someday I will own one.
Congratulations on the score, Draculafan, that's a great looking piece.
thanks marsattacks666 and herr vogel i really appreciate the comments :) thanks again guys 8)

Anytime!!!! It is always really nice when a UMA member finds something cool.....especially
RARE.
Congrats!
thanks marsattacks666 i could not believe it my self when i found it 8) and thanks bobby :)
That is great!! Looks like a smaller version of the Aurora Creature.
Its amazing that, considering how many requests they get, they never re-issued this item. I think i would actually display one in an empty fish bowl.
I could never afford one so I made one for my fish tank out of a spare Burger King Creature ? Drilled 3 holes added an air supply and it works perfect and looks very cool :)

The original wasn't licensed and they wouldn't get away with that, now and wouldn't want to pay one for just this one toy.
Mike, I've been thinking how cool it would be to have an animated gif of the Penn Plax aquarium figure bending up and down in a bubbly fish tank.
Mike? Oh Mike? Hello? Where'd you go? :-\

Thanks Mike, I was going to post something along those lines... always first with the info, that Mike Scott! ;)
It would be cool if they did, but it wouldn't be worth what Universal would have them pay for the license.
And Tom Smith, you Monsternut...
where are the pics of this very cool-sounding BK Creature tank denizen? Me wanty looky!

Anybody got photos of the thing bobbing up and down?

Cool! Thanks! Just take them all from the same fixed position.
You know who can come up with a reissue of this? The fine folks at XoneX Archive. They are who put out the Funko Creature Monster Force (not Universal Licensed) and would certainly come up with a corporate partner to re-do the Penn plax if demand was strong enough.
You can find the XoneX name on the Jumbo Frankenstein PEZ also. The only Creature items I associate with XoneX (besides the Funko) is a poster (sold at Walmart) and the Target pajamas. No Dollar Tree Creature figure, goop or playing cards.
There is however a Dollar Tree "Curse of the Werewolf" figure that would make one baaaada** PEZ dispenser. Didn't I see pics of a Funko PEZ metallic Creature?

Really, don't make a fuss; if you can that would be most appreciated... would love to see it! Thanks-
No, do fuss. I'm selfish like that. ;D

XoneX was also the licensor of the Creature gummi "sushi" candy.

Hah! Beautiful Tom... I have four of those BK Creatures (when they were available, everyone got them for me!) and one might look very nice bubbling in my stepson's fishtank!
Thanks again.
great tom thanks for sharing the pic man excellent collection of monster toys my friend:)
That is a truly amazing find! I remember seeing these in pet shops and K-Marts as a kid, and trying to convince my mom to get it for me. Not having any fish, she thought I was nuts! Of course, I probably would have just wound up playing with it and destroying it...but it's been a "holy grail" item for me as well. Congrats!
thanks the gill-man :)
