It's not a good thread. It's a ridiculous thread. So ridiculous in fact that I'm willing to give it life support. This thread should be considered an exercise in internet indulgence. The mere notion that anybody out there would be the slightest bit interested in what I ate for dinner tonight is not only vanity at its worse, it's pure and utter nonsense. And it's because of that that I'm even willing to give it a whirl. By the time I'm through with it though, I'm pretty sure you'll wish you had never asked.
Terry, that china pattern is charming! Is that a summer pattern, or do you use that year-round?
But... hmmmm... I would have expetected an Anchor Hocking fantasy placemat under your setting, and your beer in an Anchor Hocking monster glass.

Why thank you Elizabeth. I prefer to use summer patterns upon eating seasonal dishes. That particular china is from my Lenox collection. You may note the summer ale featured in the pic too. I find my choice of beverages changes along with the seasons. During the cold winter months, I routinely enjoy a dark stout or lager.
QuoteBut... hmmmm... I would have expetected an Anchor Hocking fantasy placemat under your setting, and your beer in an Anchor Hocking monster glass.
Never. Monster are never allowed in the kitchen. I need my space while enjoying my food.

Take it to the NEXT level. Charmin or Scotts? ??? :P HAH! Sorry, not really but for din din. 12 oz of citrus butter grilled chicken with a hint of pepper, steamed broccoli washed down with 36 oz of light citrus Belgian ale. YUM
Wait a sec Terry not that you don't know what you're eating but are you sure that's not Young Jewel rice instead of Jasmine?
You've asked for it. I'll show you the remnants of what I've been eating, but be warned... it may be too hot for you to handle...
Okay, well actually it's not hot, because it's empty. But it was too hot to handle when I first got it! Anyway, I give you now... a Potato Olé cup.

The only thing missing are a couple Frankenstein heads on the side.
Tell me about it. I keep telling them they need to ditch the guy with the sombrero and go with a Universal Monsters theme. But do they listen to me? Nooo!
Coffin Joe is Hispanic right. So what about Coffin Joe silouettes on the container in various meanacing poses?
I can just see it now: Taco Joe's. The place would be decorated all gothic style, with creepy candles at every table. All the male employees would be dressed like Coffin Joe (rawr) and the female ones would be dressed like Pomba Gira. The menu items would be in Portuguese, and everything you order would come in a coffin-shaped box with a logo of Coffin Joe's hand on it. Oh, and of course, they would give away a free CJ toy or comic with every meal.
Yeah. Only problem is, once I got there, I would never want to leave. :D

If Mojica ever reopens his museum, he could have a little side cafe just like that. It would be worth the plane ticket just to eat there. The forks could be little tridents.
My modest dinner consisted of pita, hummus and garbanzo beans.

I got in on a sandwich order with a few guys here at the office several years ago, and the guy ordering damn near would not place my order, because of the Mayo--He's Sicilian
Tuna pasta bake.
Lamb Chops, Black-eye peas, corn, Ritz crackers with goat cheese, and a Pepsi.
Yum!...except for the Pepsi--Coke is it Creepy!
S&B Pork chops and applesauce, Masked Pots and Brussels sprouts
2 miniature potato dinner rolls with a ripped in half piece of leftover chicken breast on them and some grapes.
About a dozen fish fingers at a kids party.
I celebrated driving myself to the gym twice this week, by meeting my wife at one of our fave restaurants here in Lafayette. El Rodeo - Had the Chicken, Steak & Shrimp Parillo with green peppers & onions. Rice, refried beans, quacamole & salsa with tortilla chips. Washed down with a 47 ounce Margarita! Kinda fitting that I plan to watch the Mexican movie classic, Santa Claus tonight (2 a.m.) on TCM.
Walked some of it off at the Dollar Tree next door - good thing I made it to the gym today!
UP! Sounds like a nice evening! :)
chips n dip
Salad and a cookie
Sloppy Joes, a salad, and a Pepsi
Canned Beef stew baked under wife's homemade biscuits.
Burger, fries, Coke.
Gyro casserole. Made from ground lamb fried with onions, garlic and middle eastern spices, with bowtie pasta, a creamy yogurt/sourcream sauce with mint and olives as a side dish.
More Chili. This time with corn bread.

Eclectic food consumption today - 5 Roasted Chili Dogs on Whole Wheat Buns with some Diet Sierra Mist & Pringle's Potato Chips. A couple of hours later, 4 Large Stalks of Celery (what I call "shrubs") with some light Italian Dressing & a quart of Ice Water. 2 hours after that (about 9 pm), a big bowl of Raisin Bran with Skim Milk & 2 slices of Wheat Toast.

This was at the Makino Japanese resturant, so no left overs.
Tonight Country ham, black-eye peas, homemade potato salad, mac and cheese, and Pepsi.
CreepysFan- If I send you a camera, will you start photographing your meals and send them to me? YUM! I usually have trouble matching entrees to side dishes, so we have a lot of sad combos around here. Sometimes it's turkey bacon and pudding. Or tuna sandwiches and raspberries. Since my kids have been grown, we put little or no thought into what we arrange on a plate. Anyways- I love this topic! Hopefully my food matching instincts will return. :)
Eh... GREAT avatar, Charp.
I had leftover meatloaf...
Turkey and Chorizo fajitas with cheese sauce, greek yogurt, and ranch beans. Note to self: Chipotles are powerful mojo.
Thanks Sean! And may I hang around outside your house and inhale your cooking aromas, Dr. Madd? You always have the most delicious sounding ingredients in your dinners :) I had a chicken breast and some cracked pepper Triscuits and half a Mars bar........ :(
break down your chicken breast, mix with mayo, celery seed, a little onion, crushed black olives and use it as a delicious spread for your crackers.. Batter and deep fry your mars bar.
Ha!! I love it! My daughter actually tried a deep fried candy bar at the Wisconsin State Fair and claimed it was delicious! She went off to college and rebelled against everything I taught her :) She wasn't raised on fried food because I'm deathly afraid of hot oil!!!
Get yourself a covered deep fryer. Place it on a flat countertop and nothing is safer. Just remember to unplug it.
Had a bad dose of food poisoning this weekend, think it might have been the sea bass fillet at the pub. I feel like I never want to eat again. :-\
Yikes - sorry to hear LLK....
Did Sushi Sat night for Jessicas 21st Bday
Wife made a White Bean soup w/ Pork, and french bread (they were outta Italian) It was nice and hearty for the cold wet wet weather we're having
BLT sandwich and a Pepsi
Beef and Broccoli
White rice
potstickers
Green tea Ginger ale
Homemade pancakes.. I've finally perfected the recipe. 1/4 cup of flour, 1 egg, 1/2 cup milk, a tablespoon of baking powder. Use the whisk to get the batter to a thin, smooth consistency.. Heat your skillet up after spreading butter over it, then turn the stove eye down to medium and use a ladle to pour out about 3 tablespoons of batter.. Watch till bubbles rise all over it, then flip and let it cook another 20 seconds.
Then remove and repeat.
Dr. Mad, a good pancake is a hard thing to beat, my girlfriend always makes them for me on pancake day! I like mine just with a sprinkle of sugar.
Went to my mum's tonight and had a Sunday dinner (even though it's Tuesday) Homemade steak and carrot pie (with puff pastry on top but no base), mash potatoes, roast potatoes, sprouts, cabbage and broccoli florets. The gravy was out of this world and we had mint sauce on the veg.
Tacos, Cheese Enchiladas, black beans and rice, and Pepsi. Bottle Cap candy for dessert.

In reverse order to the way you wrote...........the sweetness of the bread and butter pickles gives a nice counter to the savory flavor of the meatloaf. Dill is next best. Garlic last just because I never tried it on meatloaf, but it sounds good!!

We are pretty snowed in right now with close to 3 feet out there, so dinner tonight was whatever I could throw together. I made one of my famous 'Garbage Plates' tonight... they are basically skillet cooked hash-type dishes. Tonight I diced some white potatoes and chicken cutlet and pan fried that with a little olive oil and lots of garlic (I wish I had peppers and onions to mix in---but oh, well).... next I poured in Egg Beaters over the hash to get a scrambly omlette feel, a little pepper, salt and to the plates the hash went-------to be topped off with a splash of Prego, shredded mozzarella and a dash of chopped turkey bacon.
As usual, these dishes LOOK awful but taste great.
Oh my stars Sean!!!! That "garbage plate" sounds fantastic! I had a "frail plate"consisting of a salad, (lettuce & carrots), the top of a coconut cupcake (leftover from last week) and 3 olives. We are at a grocery store face-off in my house. I am so sick of shuffling around like the undead, and filling up a cart. I wish they delivered like on the old tv shows!
After Thanksgiving, the wife made a great grilled sandwich inspired by the same at a local restaurant near work. Turkey Melt with cheddar and Avocado, with Cranberry sauce on the side. Yummy--best with grilled sour dough

My wife makes the best banana pudding. Mine, sadly is a frankenstein model made of quick-make ingredients and my own touch, such as toasting my vanilla wafers and dredging my bananas in lemon juice, vanilla extract, then draining them off, and dusting them with splenda. The Lemon Juice will kill the browning process.
Vegetable curry with pilau rice. Will have to try Banana pudding!

BBQ chicken, potato salad, cole slaw & a lemon cupcake.
All right, Flower! I'm craving every food you just listed! That may just be the perfect meal :) I'm assuming that you are a cupcake baker? I made white chocolate- banana- peanut butter cupcakes over the weekend for my son in laws birthday, but lemon is more my speed.
It'll be a while before I can do another Dinner with Dr. Madd. The idiots I work for have me working twelve straight with no days off.

Charp!
One of our supermarket chains makes a great BBQ chicken ... they had a meal deal this week, purchase the chicken at the normal $9.99 and get the potato salad, cole slaw and cupcakes for free .. I would like to bake but I either don't have the time or energy. One of the cupcake choices was Red Velvet and they seemed to have many left over .. I'm going to see if they place them on half price later.
My baking speed is slow ..

This thread is nuts. But anyway, mahi-mahi sandwiches, white asparagus with cheese, and Canadian whiskey with a splash. Oh, and Key Lime Pie.
Last Night:
1 pound ground beef
1 egg
4 tablespoons bread crumbs
1 table spoon each of :
Cumin
ground cardamom
garlic powder
black pepper
a pinch of crushed red pepper
Hungarian Paprika
coriander
ginger
parsley
oregano
and two teaspoons of basil
Ketchup
two onion rolls
Mix spices and bread crumbs.. add egg and meat, mix well, press into patty.. Place into oiled pan and put in oven until browned on top. Add ketchup over the top and allow to reach internal temp of 160
then cut open the rolls and place meatloaf patty on bun.

Doesn't sound too bad!
It was good, but I'm nuts about fried chicken!
Chick-fil-A - although there are negative events going on and many talks about the subject, I still really like the food they serve! and none of anything going on will stop me from eating there!
I'd eat at Cick-Fil-A because of the contraversy. That being said, I had a hamburger from Wendy's.
yeah same here - one of the reasons why I ate there
Pizza, root beer.
Tried Chick-fil-A a few times when I lived California. Could never understand the appeal of the place. KFC and Carl's Jr did better chicken sandwiches. Don't really care about political issues one way or t'other, but it is easy for me to boycott the place. The food is Meh, and the nearest location is over 300 miles away.
But then, I could never understand the appeal of Crispy-Creme. They opened one here, and after the first two weeks the crowds died down, and nobody goes there. There are too many great locally owned donut shops.
Oh yeah, dinner: Smoked baby back ribs, barbecue brisket, peanut slaw and homemade baked beans. Had a day off, so I decided to cook something good.
Salmon patties, fresh veggies, low-fat cottage cheese, wheat bread & water.
AARRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
Healthy Food!!! :P :P
Yeah. might as well throw it all in a blender, pour into ice cube trays and have crunchy snacks for later. :P

thats so funny and TRUE..
the chick fil A's in california didnt do well at all, and most of them shut down within a few months of opening .
I went ONCE and it was disgusting.
who needs that anyway when you got In& Out , Carls Jr, and stuff like that.
anyways..
tonight I made a crazy huge dinner.
stuffed chicken breasts ( stuffed with cheeses ), smothered in sauce & mozzerella. .
salad,
garlic cheese bread.
then we had a huge bonfire so the babies could make smores..
I plan on eating there when we go to Halloween shop in October. Didn't eat dinner. Dr. Madd is not well.
