There is a new feature that has been installed at the forum. It is called "Like Post."
This is not be confused with any kind of Facebook integration. This is simply a standalone "like button" that is exclusive to the UMA. If you like somebody's post, you can simply click on the orange "like" button and let them know. You will also have the option to "unlike" the post should you have a change of heart.
P.S. You do not have the option to "like" your own post.
As always, your input is welcome.
Well, I've gotten used to this feature on FB so why not have it here? A lot of times I do like the posts but don't fell compelled to simply write "I like this". This is a quick way to do this.
I don't think it's an option on Tapatalk, though.

No, I'm pretty sure this isn't going to work with Tapatalk. Sorry.

"Like" seems so boring. Is there any way to monsterize it? Maybe instead of "Like" it could be "Ghoul" or "Fangtastic" or "Killer" or "Monsterous"......I dunno, something more UMA worthy!

Agreed. It's pretty mundane. I'm looking into whether or not this can be customized.
You may also track your "likes" and "likes" given by others by clicking on Profile > Profile Info > Like Posts

That's too bad as it was my only hope of getting 'liked' ... ;)
Flower, we Like you here at the UMA.

It's a slippery slope, that's what it is! Next thing, our posts will be limited to 140 characters!

YOU LIKE MEEEEEE..............YOU REALLY LIKE MEEE!!!
I came to the UMA tonight and saw all these little orange boxes overrunning the forums like digital tribbles. I thought we might have been hacked!
I like the "like" buttons. They save me the trouble of actually posting anything.

Good news, Mark.
I finally discovered the problem. The "Like" plug-in was not installed within the Core theme which is the theme that you use. I reinstalled the plug-in and it should now show itself. Primates and their problems. ::)
If so, please be sure to like this post. ;)
Let's just hope UP's enormous sausage fingers can navigate the new system.
MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm................sausage.
Well, if I like a post enough to want to "Like" it, I can use Tapatalk's Web View feature to "Like" it.

Thanks for your input, Jim. I'm open to all members voicing their opinion on the LIKE button. I recognize that this button could be less obtrusive, and that is something I will look into.

No, Mike, that's worse. Much, much worse... can it be disabled ala signatures on many boards?

I don't see any way to turn it off? Although, for some reason I don't seem to have it anymore.

Are you sure? You won't see it under any posts of your own no matter how vain you are. :D
You can only "like" other member's posts.

A member group setting has changed due to the new donator tag. I had to enable a permission checkbox. It should be back on now for you, right?
Yes, it's back on!
:)
I wish more people would use this feature.
After signing up to receive notifications of new responses to a thread, it can be disappointing to get a lot of e-mails that lead to comments that say only "Cool", "Me too", "Neat", etc.
The LIKE button expresses much the same sentiment without all the extra notifications.

I think that many people do both. I know that I use the like buttons and often add a short comment too. I think that it's nice to know who gave you the like .. I gave you one on the quoted post. .. COOL! 8)
I do both as well.
But I try to add something a little more illuminating that "cool".
If I think something is "cool", I try to let the person why I think it is cool or what I find best about it.

All you have to do is click on the "2 people liked this" link to see who liked it.
Cool.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work on Tapatalk. But, Tapatalk does have the "Web View" feature, and then you can use "Like"! :D
