If I can't get a Batmobile then my ideal car is the Aston Martin DB5, Bond's car I always thought that it was a cool vehicle. During the early sixties there used to be a business man who owned one that was even the same colour and I used to pretend that it was mine, toy Bond gun and all.

Mt thoughts EXACTLY TV Horror! There used to be a customizing company in B.C. that would build a 1960's batmobile on a lincoln frame for you-it had everything including the bat-phone and working flame nozzle at the rear. The only thing it didn't have was a bat logo, due to copyright reasons 9they just called it a "crime-fighting car", not a batmobile.
If neither one of these, then an e-type jaguar; wire wheels, in red or British racing green.
I always thought a 1903 Winton would be nice. This one was the first car driven coast to coast. Horatio Nelson Jackson, Sewell Crocker and a bulldog named Bud did it in 1903.

Then this one has more charm (and a lot more options). But then I'd need a top hat and bat-wing cape.
This one is probably more reliable and safer on today's roads.

I agree Toy Ranch .. these are great cars that I would love to own myself.
There are just so many I'd like to have. I'd love to be one of those rich collectors with mega garages out in the country.
I'll start with this one, a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner, preferably with a 426 Hemi under the hood:

Gary, those are great looking ponies. I pretty much love all the Mustangs from the 60s and early 70s, although I have a preference for the fastbacks. They just look meaner. If I told you I didn't fall head over heels in love with a 1977 Trans-Am when Smokey and the Bandit 1st aired on TV when I was 6...I'd be a liar.

Both your old and new Challengers are sweet cars. One of my fave styles of all time. I had a friend back in H.S that had a stock 318 76" Cuda and he went to town on it actually getting honorable mention at a couple local car shows. In 84' he traded it in on a new car and got reamed because it was probably worth twice as much as the new one. He turned into a coke head so his thinking was pretty flawed.
The 318's were fast off the line and both the Cuda's and Challengers were great cars .. If I had to get a car .. I would want this ...

Flower , THAT is one sweet looking ride and purple is one of my fave colors. LOVE it.
Hopefully, this will be the last car I buy . . .
Seriously, though:
Back in 1984, a buddy of mine from college bought a '49 Buick from its original owner's widow. It had 24k miles on it. A couple of months ago, I heard from him. He still has it, and it now has 50k miles.
(http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/8320/1506610.jpg) (http://img651.imageshack.us/i/1506610.jpg/)
Still a sweet ride. And except for tires, spark plugs, plug wires, and radiator hoses, it is 100% original.
I would love to own these three again! They were my first three cars. I owned all of them at the same time in 1972-73. These aren't pics of the actual cars, just the closest to the ones I had.
This was the first, a 1953 Packard Clipper. I restored it, overhauled the straight 8 engine, repainted it. I went on my first "on my own" date in this tank. It's steering wheel was as big as a ship's wheel.
The 1951 Hudson Hornet was a wild car. It had been owned by a country music singer and had been reupholstered in gold sparkly vinyl and it had a BAR! installed in the back seat.
Now the 1964 Buick Riveira was a beautiful car, wood steering wheel, wood paneling, wire wheels, leather interior, every power option available at the time...Sweet! However, it was possessed and probably was the inspiration for Stephen King's Christine! That's another story! But she was still a beauty!

Odds are it didn't disappear. I've been having the same issues every so often. Just reload the page.
A first year Corvette and a first year T-Bird. I need a Galaxie 500. They were in all the TV shows and movie and the early 60's. Without Galaxie 500's there would be holes in all those shows and movies. The original Batmobile would be nice. And the original Herbie the Love Bug. I can't resist a cute little pinchable face.

Wow, boss cool!

But what prompted you to dispense of the car anyway?
???
Got married, wife couldn't drive standard shift and the transmission gave me problems.Oh well.
If I had to choose my ride, it would be a 1968 Cadillac Eldorado; in my opinion, one of the coolest vehicles ever made. Its 472 engine was the largest and most powerful (in terms of torque) production engine in the world when it was released (although, I should admit that I have considered switching it to bio-diesel, to make it more environmentally friendly). I feel that 1968 was definitely the high water mark when it comes to American automotive design. Back then, the wood trim within was real wood, before they went to plastic in the 1970's. 1968 was also the first year for Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, so the cars were equipped with a wider degree of safety features, than their predecessors. Just an amazing vehicle!

However, if I ever went into business giving "ghost tours", the ONLY vehicle I would ever consider using is a 1968 (notice a trend?) Cadillac Superior Royale/Crown Royale limousine (not landau) edition. It had the most glass and best visibility of any commercial chassis/hearse/ambulance released that year. It was also the last year that Cadillac used the classic vertical headlights, the first year that disc brakes were standard (at least on the Fleetwoods), and has such nice safety features as shoulder belts. It also has that great forward slant that makes it look like it is speeding forward, even if it is standing still. To say it was AWESOME, is an understatement. The small photo below shows a '68; the larger, double ad shows a pair of 1967's, which are very similar.

Below is a spooky poster I Photoshopped together using a '68 hearse. The ghostly undertakers are actually James Bond villains!!!

That's great stuff. Love the hearses.

Wow! Is that a factory or custom aftermarket paint job?

Always liked the custom lighting on the Duke's car in Escape From New York...

All too often that ends up spelling death to cool stuff. Shouldn't happen though.
:(
I had a gold 1983 Chrysler Imperial, which I bought with 20,000 km. on the speedometer in 1986. I felt I could use a little luxury at the time since I thought I had by then become a respectable member of society.
Well, I was wrong. The car was such a slug that I ended up selling it in disgust in 1991. Chrysler never did get the fuel injection system to work right in the 318 with which it was equipped.

Pity so few were produced.

The Aston Martin from Goldfinger. The ejector seat must be in working order, in case I get any s**t from my wife.lol

Ford GT40
Hummer 1 (so much more awesome and cool looking than Hummer 2 or 3 any day)
The original Dodge Challenger and even the new one, just beware of the HUGE blind spot
My current Miata MX-5 is the best handling car I have ever had, now over 245,000 miles
A few different Chevy Corvettes, but none of them over the past several years.
68 Camaro
Mustang GT 50th anniversary
ALSO the Hemi-Cuda from Phantasm, of course.
This is added to my previous list.
We have two Mercedez G-Classes (2006, 2014) and I like those very much. While I've never rolled either, the side-mirrors do pop off like dislocated shoulders - go back, pick 'em up, plug 'em in. They work fine. And the bumpers are stout enough so that they wouldn't dig into the tires!
But I was looking at the 2018 G-Concept and, I dunno, folks...
First, those bumpers (rear and front) have NO BACKING SUPPORT so they'll cut into any tire when rolled or if I challenge a rock at probably even 10mph. There is no backing U-brace support from the body, and I see no reason to have bumpers ready to slice into tires whatsoever. What's the purpose of the rear-wheel well's 'cut away' to expose Bumper & Tire together? "Oh gee - this cut-away allows debris to be flung straight over the bumper and out back!" Well... fine. But rocket-launchers built into the rear bumper - or machine guns or oil-jets - would do an even better job of getting rid of tail-gaters and other commie spies...
Second, those little cornstalk side mirrors might pop out just fine, but having them inserted into glass probably means, at some point, the surrounding glass would be cracked by roll-overs as the side-mirrors popped out of socket.
I don't know what the slightly raised-from-window side pillars are for. Side window protection during roll-overs? Or are they hand-holds so that, as I'm speeding away, friends and allies can grab on and I can speed away while they're doing their best to hang on? That'd be pretty thoughtful, if so. But, in my limited experience with friends hanging on by fingertips, I sure couldn't drive too far, too fast with such tiny finger-tip holds.
Finally, the Top.
I've seen rear-shots of this vehicle and there is no snorkel exhaust, so those front-four bulbs can't be some kind of 3D periscope system. (That's what I asked for, too.) I mean, if you're not going to have snorkel'd exhaust, why have 3D camera systems mounted merely a foot higher than my own eyes?
So, could those be, like, laser beams? They can't be machine guns. They can't be rocket-launchers (you'd roast whatever surfboard I was carrying on the rear luggage rack, after all. I HATE that when that happens.)
And what about that little gull-wing luggage rack? It looks cool but, frankly, the roof is still too narrow to support any .50-cal gun turret I need. Even an old 2-gun turret from a B-25 wouldn't fit and, if it did, the gunbelts would be dangling down in the 2nd Row Seats, getting caught up in passengers' gowns and suits, or messing up drive-thru burger-joint meals.
Of course, I wanted to get a B-29's electric remote gun-turret, but I can't find any 2-gunners - just the more standard 4-gunners, and those need a VERY wide roof for support - I'd need at least another 18 inches up there.
So, we're going to stay with the older ones. For now. I keep sending them ideas, though, and they just keep ignoring me, apparently. I don't know why.

I'm not sure about the James Bond stuff, but I think the oversized wheel wells are designed to enable the installation of even larger tires without any need to jack the whole truck up higher.
:-\
Yes, but that 'cut away' over the bumper - that's not going to make any difference in tire-fit.
Actually, it's probably an anti-mud build-up structure, where mud jammed upward gets split under the lower edge of the bumper, or over its top. Instead of one large block of mud, it'd be split into two, unsupported globs that hopefully will fall away all the more quickly.
If the wheel-well was one solid piece down to the bumper, the mud would be one long blob inside that well's backwall.
That can be such a mess to clean out, too... Getting Hubby to clean out my wheel wells is a REAL chore. He hardly ever lets me have any fun.
Still, I'd rather have bumpers supported to prevent their collapse into tires. Or maybe we'll get our second li'l bus...

I DO like the bus.
We passed on the older style one (like the above Green one) due to lack of overhead storage at the rear, and bought one like this:
which is similar to our existing one. We'll refurb it, repaint it white (or maybe checkerboard - I think I've learned how to do that) and it should be able to seat 20 for in-town jaunts or 8 or 12 on longer tours, plus hold a bunch of equipment, too. Even offer some triple decker bunks.
And no, Hubby won't allow gun-mounts or rocket launchers, despite my many winning arguments about MY uses for them. He keeps insisting that dead-drivers would be worse drivers than the live-ones I encounter. I dunno, though... and once again, he refused to even look for the half-tracks... "Parking spaces? I don' squeeze into no steenkin' parking spaces!"

He just never lets me have any fun.
