What's the difference in the costume, Mike?

Here's the bagged costume. (Printed sheet included in bag.)

There are no markings that I recall.  Got them very cheaply.  Curiously, I've never seen another pair exactly like them.

Mine came loose.  Anyone here have a pair with identifying/dating packaging?

I get that the photo on the package makes the abdomen suit look yellowish, but I don't think the suit that was included differs at all from the hanging assortment. Are you seeing or are you aware of something I am not?

The suit in the bag also has much heavier black lines:

In my experience it does not.

The touched up photo used on the package, possibly of a pre-production photo sample, has among its visual distinctions from the production version "heavier black lines", yes.

If there is actually a differing version of the jumpsuit for this Rubie's Creature costume that was ever released, as Mike has stated, I would love to see it or at least clarify if one of you actually knows there is a variant costume that in fact has been released to retail.

How about now?

Yep, the airbrushed photo on the package does indeed look like a touched up packaging photo.

Do you, Mike, own or have you ever seen an actual production costume (again, not a photo sample or the like) that differs in any way from the production example included with the hanger version Hep posted a photo of?

I was going strictly by the photos. I don't have any 1991 Rubie's costumes. Could be a retouched photo? I just assumed the pic on the bag would look like the costume inside. I'll keep an eye out for photos.

Hmmmmm. Interesting! This photograph of the Creature costume from Rubie's web catalogue does indeed look different from the costume released in 1991 on the cardboard hanger:

I can't say when the above picture was taken though or whether that costume is actually identical to the one Rubie's has made available to customers since the latter years of the 20th century.

So are you saying that you've seen the Creature costume Rubie's has been selling in bags and that it's identical to this one?

This is the one Rubie's made for the TARGET "Monsterville" collection a couple of years ago.

Check out this variant! Looks like somebody had the fabric turned upside down when they cut out the pattern.  ;D

Here's a peek at the costume in the bag. Looks like it could be the same as the hanger one? If it is, it's an upside down one. (See lightened area.)

Here are some Imagineering rack toys from the collection of Roback that are great for Halloween or any other semi-formal dress-up occasion:
