Totally, BC's version of Summertime Blues is classic. I really dig that era of acid rock bands: Blue Cheer, Vanilla Fudge, early Deep Purple, Iron Butterfly etc. Then of course in Detroit around the same time you get awesome garage rock bands like MC5, the Stooges, Alice Cooper . . . just a great time for hard rock music.
Those are some of my favorites. The Stooges, MC5, Alice Cooper, etc were the soundtrack to my youth.

Black Mass-Lucifer! Way ahead of it's time. 70's used to imbibe in various psychedelic substances. Turn off the lights and turn on my colored strobe lights. Great music for Halloween as well.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoRSaAb6HxA

Blue Oyster Cult  - Original Album Classics
Great boxed set. Includes their first 4 albums and Mirrors. I've listened to the first two and am amazed how well they hold up. Secret Treaties and Agents of Fotune are next (I've never heard Mirrors).

What the hell happened to album 5 (w/ "Godzilla")?  I don't know what some of these record execs are thinking?  ???

Not the first of these inexpensive 5 album sets to get it wrong. The Doobie Bros. set left off their 1st album so they could include the first Michael McDonald album w/ "Takin' it to the Street".  :(

The Randy Newman set did get it right, with his first five.  :)

Well, I went to Amoeba Records looking for the first two B.O.C., and noticed I could get this 5 disc set for the same price. Those first two Lps with the bonus tracks were worth the price alone. The 3rd album was pretty good, but the female back-up singers bugged me. The fourth album was more commercial, but still good. After that, I didn't care for their other releases. They're playing at a place two miles from my house Wednesday. I was going to go, until I found out they didn't have a single original member. They might as well be a B.O.C. cover band, for all I care. No Buck Dharma, no money.

How is that not a cover band? I know bands lose and gain members, but come on!

I'd go if Christopher Walken was directing Will Ferrell's cowbell playing.

Whoa, Buck not in band anymore either? I saw them with Deep Purple about 5 yrs ago and Eric Bloom and Buck still in lineup, but the other guys were jobbers. They still sounded good though. I was fortunate enough to see the real BOC when I was a kid. Saw them on "Black and Blue" tour with Sabbath in Detroit, but I was like 4 yrs old and don't remember much.  A few yrs later when we were living in SoCal my dad took me again to see them. Pat Travers opened up. I remember a lot more of that show. Great band.
