OK Gang, here's something you don't see every day...from my personal collection, this guy is 13" tall, 3lbs. 6 ounces, probably born in the mid to late 60s like myself.  The beautiful, cold refreshing beer is included in the photo as a size reference only and the only relevance might be that it matches the type needed during endless hours of scouring the internet for things like this.  I am posting this for several reasons, one of course being to welcome your questions and comments, and any info on this item, since I know almost nothing about it.  I would also like to offer a gentleman's challenge to any and all takers to post a photo of a larger or more impressive soft, "oily" style rubber gorilla jiggler.  Until anyone can match or beat this sample, I am claiming ownership of the hugest rubber gorilla jiggler on UMA and therefore the world, since I can't imagine such a thing being discussed anywhere else.  I welcome any challengers, including any duplicates of this gorilla, which I would love to see, (including the only other one I ever saw on Ebay maybe 8 years ago which sold for $130 or so,) and also I think we would all enjoy seeing  anything close to being as impressive.  Also, words can't describe how filled with joy I would be if anyone posted a bigger, gnarlier, huger rubber gorilla than this, believe me I sought one like the Holy Grail, and I would be likely to make you an offer for it.  One quick addition to the rules, no blow molded hard plastic banks, or other hard figures are allowed, unless super cool and just posted for viewing purposes.  No hard dolls, or giant Planet of the Apes costumes, etc.  Just soft rubbery jigglers, if you can't shake it and make it jiggle like jello, it doesn't count and will be DQ'd.  Also, I am the official referee unless overruled by a forum moderator.

I know the elite crew in UMA includes the world's foremost authorities on things like this, so go get what you got and BRING IT!

Unknown Primate

I wish I had a huge, oily, rubber gorilla jiggler to post a pic of!  Alas, I'll have to be satisfied with ogling that one of yours.
" Perhaps he dimly wonders why, there is no other such as I. "

Dr.Terror

You have me beat by 3"  , but what mine lacks in size, it makes up in attitude!!  And its not just any gorilla, its Kong!

There is a third style from possibly the same maker, (not my pic)

no clue when or where they we made.    My guess is the 70's.        Your monster looks like it could be 60's, it has a Russ Berry feel to it.
Morning, noon, or night, Anytime . . . . the count may strike. If you're caught you have to linger, Cause Dracula may bite your finger!

Toy Ranch

I think you win, but that is a cool giant rubber monkey!

Is that 13" to the tip of his head, or his raised arms?  I either have that same gorilla, or one very much like it.  I don't have one that beats it, though.

...it looks like somebody doesn't have a Hieneken bottle handy.  It's 13" to the top of his hands.  Please post a photo of your gorilla -I would love to see it.  If anyone could provide a valid challenge it would be someone like you.  For the sake of rubber gorilla collectors everywhere, let's see what you got.

After inspecting my gorilla, I must sadly report that your jiggler is bigger than my jiggler.

My gorilla is the same style, probably taken from the same original sculpt, but it is a few inches shorter.

But there is an upside to the story.  In the process of searching for my gorilla, I discovered two AHI jigglers I didn't even know I owned.  One of them is a Frankenstein.  The other is a lovely Mummy in a unique dark tan color with great paint.  He might be the best AHI Mummy jiggler I've ever seen.  And I didn't even know I had him until I started digging through my jigglers, looking for that gorilla.  Why these AHIs were in my gorilla box, I don't know.

Here are my gorillas.  I have at least one counter dump box too, somewhere.

Here are those two AHIs I found.

I go coo-coo for gorillas. I even recently just took closeup photos of all my gorillas for a slide show (called SKellies and Gorillies) and I have very many. But I concede the largest jiggler gorilla title to you. Yours is one NICE looking rubber primate.
Here's one of mine - not next to a Heineken but shown with couple guys that just HAD a Heineken. With his hands up he's about fourteen inches - but he's hard plastic and not at all floppy. By the way I have yet to identify where this guy came from (except China) but you can see he was sold as  King Kong toy and not just another ape.

Hey Ray- awesome photos, thanks for posting those.  The gorilla challenge is already paying off with you finding those two AHIs (I have seen that dark version of the mummy a few times, I like it...) and also the fact that we all get to see your cool gorillas.  I have that Gigantor gorilla and the other big one in the back right of your photo, he is my second biggest rubber gorilla, (is that the one you thought might have been from the same sculpt?)  Also, I would love to see a shot of the counter display of gorillas if you get a chance to shoot it...

Great Kong- thanks for posting that. I like the soldiers near his feet shooting the mortar at him...  How or when can we see the gorilla slide show?

If I can figure out a way to post or send it I would love to share it! I Not sure yet how to create a slideshow file. I could just copy and attach but its 14MB do you think it would email ok?

Toy Ranch

This is my favorite rubber gorilla.

Gargantua toured with the Ringling Bros circus from the late 30's - the late 40's.  Although I have not been able to authenticate it, this was sold to me as a souvenir that was sold during Gargantua's touring days.  The actual story of Gargantua is pretty sad, so I keep him with my Kong stuff.

I just had to see the above text one more time. Sorry. And I'm sorry for you too Raymond.  ;)

If you guys are going to inspect your gorillas, please do it out back where you won't startle the women and children.

Thanks so much everyone for all the great photos and stories.  That gargantua gorilla wins the coolest or rarest rubber gorilla if it isn't the biggest!  (...how big is it?)    The story is both sad and poinant...I have always heard "gargantua" in connection with gorilla stories and wondered why, now I know.  I am attaching photos of a hard plastic gorilla figure I have of Bushman, who was the most famous gorilla in captivity at the Lincoln Park Zoo near Chicago and died in 1951, my dad saw him alive as a kid and took myself and my brothers to see his stuffed carcass at the Chicago Field Museum in the early 70s.  This figure I have is a bank about 12 inches tall and reads "Universal Statuary Corp. 1952 Chicago" on his lower back.  I found a cool website with info on both of these famous gorillas called www.gargantuaphotos.com  Thanks and keep all the cool stories and photos coming!
