This was taken Friday night at the opening of Mort Kunstler's "Remembering the Battle of Gettysburg" exhibit at the Reading (PA) Public Museum.
He was kind enough to sign my copy of the JAWS parody cover he did for MAD, and pose with me holding the cover I did for MAD. The show runs through July 28.

MAD magazine kicks butt!  R.I.P. William Gaines.

Looks great Chris!Of all the Mad mags The Jaws one is the only one I have. Now I need to find YOURS!

I love Mad Magazine, have several isues in the attic, and 3 or 4 paperbacks in our bookcase. Mort drucker was my favorite artist. If it didn't have a Drucker entry in there somewhere, I wouldn't get it.

My fave has to be the "Planet That Went Ape" parodies of the first 4 films.

Hep - the work Jack Davis did on two of your covers just blows my mind! He fills every square inch with hilarious caricature...

An all-time great! Jack is perhaps my very favourite comic strip artist.

The original painting for this was on exhibit a couple floors above my office last year or year before.

Note from the back cover that Mad started doing product parodies over ten years before Topps launched its Wacky Packs series of cards/stickers:

Kelly Freas was a multi-talented addition to William Gaine's stable! I always marvel at his painterly approach - and he was able to mimic different styles in his paintings, the better to "sell" the parody.

I love Mad .. alas, the first thing that I want to do is to fold the back cover .. they sort of frown on this at comic shows for some reason .. Go Figure!
