Yeah, but the the question is how much of the artwork is actuallu Justin Osbourn's and how much of it is ripped off from other artists!?  Hopefully the guy learned his lesson and only uses his own stuff now!

Thanks! I feel like an imbecile  :P

Like I always say, it's better to feel like an imbecile, that to look like an imbecile.  ;D

I'm looking at their Phantasm II.

The cover art is excellent. I have 1,3,4 from Anchor Bay. Now with the complete set, I believe a marathon is in order soon.
"For one who has lived but a single lifetime, you are a wise man ...Van Helsing."
"I shall awaken memories of love and crime and death..."

Well, in their combo pack for "The Town That Dreaded Sundown," the bonus film "The Evictors" is only on the DVD. Otherwise, the rest of the bonuses appear to be on both disks.

Yup. I'm guessing "The Evictors" may be in rough shape, and didn't meet the standards for BRD. I haven't had a chance to watch it, yet.

BRD & DVD releases (no combo packs) coming June 18th.

Looking forward to picking this one up! Any idea when The Fog comes out, or did it already?

Well I really hadn't planned on picking up Scream Factory's release of Day of the Dead (Sept. 17, 2013) but I found it used for $11.99 and figured what the heck....I also couldn't remember if I had this or Dawn of the Dead on dvd already?!  FYI, turns out I do not have Dawn of the Dead!  Well, I bought it and I figured I'd throw up 2 screen caps comparing this release with Anchor Bay's Divimax release from 2003 for anyone interested!  You can also get either of these releases on Blu-ray.

Anchor Bay dvd on top, Shout Factory dvd on bottom~

Presented 1.85:1 theatrical ratio

Presented 1.78:1 (I suppose they did this to remove the very miniscule black bars at the bottom/top of the screen?!  It does create picture lose on the left/right side but it is very minor and nothing is going to be missed!)

1.85:1 theatrical ratio

1.78:1

I'm definitely digging the new transfer and Shout Factory fixed some audio issues that were present in Anchor Bay's (dvd & Blu-ray) edition as well as Arrow's (Blu-ray) editions!

From Dvdtalk.com~

"Audio: Before delving into the technical qualities of Day of the Dead's various soundtracks, it's worth noting that small portions of the dialogue differ from what was heard theatrically. From what I understand, this is because of differences in the audio stems sent to Anchor Bay by the film's licensor rather than any censoring or modifications directly made by Anchor Bay itself. There are apparently six such differences, including voices overdubbed by different actors and brief alterations to language. Lifted from a post from the Home Theater Forum, the changes include:

    0:09:15 - "It's crazy" provided by a different voice
    0:09:35 - "crap" to "Right"
0:58:48 - Gunshot is partially missing
1:01:33 - "It's the Spic" provided by a different voice
    1:11:20 - "Oh, Jesus" to "I can't look"
    1:20:30 - "Jesus" to "Stuck"

I'm not certain if that's a comprehensive list or not. Although I'd seen the movie a number of times before sitting down with this DVD, none of the alterations stood out to me, and I'd never have known there was any sort of problem if the topic hadn't inspired such heated discussion on various message boards. The fact that I didn't spot these doesn't make it alright, of course."

I never noticed the differences either until Shout Factory announced their release and I started doing some research on the different editions!  For good or bad the one thing that Shout didn't do is upgrade to 5.1/7.1 audio, all you get with their release is the original Mono track....which along with the new transfer I can live with!

The original Anchor Bay Divimax edition was a loaded 2 disc set (there is also a single disc version without all the bells and whistles) but you do get some good supplements with the Shout Factory release.  I definitely wouldn't have backtracked and bought the Anchor Bay edition if I already had the Shout Factory release but as is I'm happy to own both; Anchor Bay for the supplements and Shout's for the transfer/supplements!
