Aw, he's no idiot. He's actually rather likeable...

Is the Frankie poster in the previous images the one that was often advertised in old comic books as a "6-ft. walking Frankenstein" that you could buy for your very own?

(Honestly, I was always more interested in the "giant flying bats"!)

That's the one!  I'm confused by the plastic poster in the image and the Frankie poster in the ad.  If the Honor House poster was ordered from that old ad, which one would arrive in the mail?

The Drunken Severed Head

The Frankie poster I photographed and the one in the ad Terry linked are the same poster. The ad is in B&W, but as it says, the monster is in full color.

Maybe the ads are the same. but not the poster. The poster that I showed is a much cheaper poster that was printed on 3 mil poly. This poster was featured in many comics book ads. Not sure if they used the better looking poster for the ad and then sent out the chintzy one? Weren't there truth in advertising laws back then?  ;D

If so, I'd be enjoying my X-ray specs a lot more!   :P

Terry-- the ad you linked to shows the figure in the poster I photographed, which looks directly at the viewer. The Monster in the above poster has his face turned away. Also, there are different facial details.

I'm confused. Were these two different ads for two posters?

My bad. The ad that I had used in my earlier post was for the 6' Frankenstein poster instead of the 7' Monster poster.

Here's what the ad looks like that represents the plastic sheeting poster, followed by a pic of the poster itself.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks Max and Terry for these poster pics, and the pics of the cool dimestore toys that came with the poster.

My favorite is the plastic poster from the 70s.  I had that as a kid, as well as the skeleton one.
