Today it would probably be The Mad Mad Mad Meth Lab!
I'd never heard of this or the Magician set.
Around the holidays I saw a display of Chris Angel "Mindfreak" magic sets, which have some cool stuff in them. As Christmas got closer and closer, it didn't look like anyone had touched them. Finally I grabbed one up for myself.
PS Did anyone as a kid try this lab set?
Unfortunately, those people are no longer with us.
There are also two different versions of this set, with different interiors and contents.
I would have to politely disagree, hepcat. This is an extremely rare set, along the same lines as the FM Photo Printing Set and unused Hasbro paint sets, obviously because of its "they were all used by the original owner" nature.
I went many years before even hearing of one in existence or actually seeing one in person.
The main components (the vials, dropper, cup, etc.) are the same, but one has more goodies in it than the other, a red tablet of "Mystic Paper" being one of them, plus the box insert is somewhat different- same graphics, but the way the insert is diecut is different to accommodate the different/extra pieces, and the way they lay inside the large box.
I also seem to remember Toy Scouts having a smaller, "plain box" mail-in version at one point....
Half the toy is the fantastic box, IMHO.
