How long ago was that?

I grew up in the 90s. At the time, the Scholastic Book Fair was a big deal in schools and I collected books like the "Shock Shots" series, which is where I learned about all the monsters before I ever actually saw the films. I eventually watched them, of course, and was hooked.

Welcome to the UMA, Casey!  :)

What sort of help are you looking for, specifically?

Thank you! I will definitely check those out. Part of what I'm hoping to do is source rarer pictures so I can attempt to make some of my own replicas. Like, I'd like to try to create some Strickfaden replicas to eventually put in a garage/workshop/laboratory.

Sounds cool! We have a couple of guys doing stuff similar to that. Don't know how much help we'll be in the movie stills dept. Yuo'd probably turn up stuff quicker in a Google search.

Hello - my name is Noel.
I was a monster fanatic as a kid, but drifted from it a bit as I got older.

Thankfully - I have a son who is dragging me back to it, and I've fallen fully back in love as I watch the older films with him and pre-screen things I haven't seen in decades trying to figure out what he's ready to see and what needs to wait.

Apparently, I signed up for an account in 2017 but I don't remember doing it. 5 years later I'm posting for both of us, as I'm digging back in and he is looking for more monster kids (especially *actual* kids, since we're finding that most of his fellow 8 year olds don't understand why anyone would even watch those old things...)

In any case - hello everyone!

Welcome, New Blood.

Glad to add new members.

Does your 8-year-old like the 1930's films?  Black and white movies are hard for most of today's kids to watch.

He does - in fact the Universal Monster series are some of his favorites.

He's grown up with black and white in the mix, so he doesn't see them with the same stigma that I'm guessing alot of people now do.

Welcome to all of our new members, I for one am delighted to see young people loving the monsters us oldsters grew up loving. This website took me back in time when I purchased monster masks, models , magazines and 8mm movies hence my name here. So we need youngsters to carry on the appreciation we have for this hobby so welcome all.

I'd suggest he's due for Horror of Dracula:

And my favs in terms of the big monsters (some may be controversial to some):

Dracula: Son Of Dracula
Frankenstein: Bride Of Frankenstein
The Wolf Man: 1941/2010 (honestly its a tie between them)
The Mummy: 1999
Creature: The Creature Walks Among Us
Phantom: 1925
