Hi,

I'm a long time lurker who has recently started posting.

Like many (most?) here, I was a monster kid of the early 70s, being introduced/indoctrinated by my local UHF channels.  For me, it was predominantly Philadelphia's WPHI 17, with Dr. Shock's Saturday afternoon programs doing the most damage...having the most influence! 😊

One of my hobbies is table top RPGs, including several horror games.  Out of curiosity, is there a forum for discussing such things here?

Hmmm? "Memorable Memorabilia" usually seems to get all the orphan stuff.

It's worth a try.

Hello,

I've been registered for a bit and am just getting around to posting. I'm a huge horror and sci-fi fan, as well as comic books.  Since I was born in '83 my introductions to UM were on the small screen, but I love the films and was the beneficiary of the UM resurgence that seemed to take place in the early 90's. Glad to be here!

Welcome, New Blood.

So you were 7 or 8 when the Sideshow Series 1 figures came out?  What a great age to be introduced to brand new Universal toys!

Look forward to you joining into the discussions.

Don't forget to use the SEARCH option at the top of the Home Page to find topics/posts of interest in our many years of chatter.

Welcome to the UMA, Kevin!  :)

I think it's safe to say that everyone here was introduced to the '30s and '40s UMs via the TV.  ;D

You know, it wasn't just the toys, I seem to remember UM stuff everywhere for a few years, from chip bags to pop cans to pencils. I have distinct memories of that cool logo with all the monsters lined up in a row popping up on the most random merch.

And, because my dad was super cool, my first exposure to UM toys were the Remco 3.75 monsters that could still be found on pegs or at flea markets in the late 80's and early 90's that he bought for me. Those toys are near and dear to my heart I can tell you. The Sideshow toys are pretty excellent as well though.
