Pauligari

Hello all,

Pauligari here. First time here. I am a huge Universal Monster fan. I spent the first 34 years of my life in Los Angeles going to Universal Studios every year. I guess I grew up with Universal Monsters. I currently live in Indianapolis (I miss LA very much) and have for the last 3 years.

A little more about me...It took me a while but I am currently getting myself prepared to delve into the art of latex mask making. I know I am a bit old to just start out but I feel it is never too late to start. We'll see how this goes. I spend a lot of time watching horror films (new and old) and I love to attend horror conventions whenever I can. Life is good.

I look forward to spending time here and getting to know people with the same love of the greats as myself.

Regards,
-Pauligari

"How do you do?"
My name is Mike, obviously, and I live in Louisville, Kentucky with my wife of thirteen years, and our two daughters, ages 8 and 3&3/4's.
My introduction to monster fandom came in the early 70's when I found my Dad's album - Famous Monsters Speak. I listened to it many, many times and hearing Frankenstein's Monster "speak" sent chills up my spine every time! I remember seeing my first Universal Monster movie on T.V. one Saturday afternoon - The Creature From The Black Lagoon in 3D with glasses that could be obtained for free from a local convenient store. The movie left a lasting impression.... the 3D was pretty poor given the quality of the broadcast.
Between the record, The Gillman on T.V., and an admiration for a display of original Auroras that my Dad, and his brother, had built a few years earlier at my grandmothers house, I quickly drew a personal love for monsters that I continue to carry with me and share with my daughters who are also becoming fans.

I have been lurking on The UMA site for a long time, have posted once in a while, but have never introduced myself. So, finally, I'm getting around to it!
I'm Mike. I love monsters and The UMA!

Thanks!
Yeah, I love Castle flicks. Every Halloween night ends in my house with House On Haunted Hill and The Tingler. Those are my favorites of his.
Castle and Vincent Price on Halloween just can't be beat!

Welcome to the UMA, Pauligari and welcome to posting to MonsterMike.  I'm glad you're both enjoying the UMA.  MonsterMike, Castle's films are so much fun.  I'd love to collect the premiums from his films.  So far, the only one I have is the dream interpreter thing from THE NIGHT WALKER.

That is really, really cool!
I'm sure those items from the original theatrical run are VERY hard to come by these days!
I was even out of luck when the DVD of 13 Ghosts came out. I opened the snap case and my ghost viewers were not even in the box. See, I cannot even get the repro stuff! :)
I'll have to ask Bob Burns about that stuff the next time I see him at a show.

Hello. my name's miguel i been a monster fan since 1997-1998 i was 12 or 11 when the first universal stamps came in, followed by the burgerking kids meals. it had made me curious. it wasnt until 1999 when i was 14 did i finally decied to watch a universal horror film. THE WOLFMAN. (1941) mom has told me her experiance with these films. i asked her if they were scary, she said back then they were. that they didnt have gore, and that they were innocent.

anyways, i rented the wolfman from blockbuster.  -- the begining of the film was slow. i was kinda bored, but i forced myself to watch it. i loved it and i became hooked.  my viewing pleasure turn to frakenstein, and the bride of frankenstein. creature from the black lagoon.

i became addicted.  when AMC MONSTERFEST showed a bunch of horror classics (mom bless her) recorded every horror film they showed on tape.  i can remember, 14 years old, october, AMC was going to show DRACULA. my first time seeing the film.

so, there i was, excited, i rushed to get a soda, pop some popcorn. - rushing back as the film begin to play.  eating popcorn, drinking soda, and suddenly appeard the count on the tv. as his eyes erriely stared at me. - i was zoned out in those creepy eyes.

in the end i thought it was the best film ever.  of course, i watched the invisibleman and was amazed at how he DID look invisible. being a teen i thought those films was all but cheezy effects. boy was i wrong!

soon i watched almost every movie there was, wolfman meets frakenstein was a treat. - budd and lou meet frankenstein was funny yet awesome. - each movie had its charm and i became addicted, as any universal monster toy came out i try to get my hands on. a few sideshow toys, marvel legends monsters, posters, t-shirts, toys, anything.

finally i discovered SCARYMONSTERS magazine. and that pretty much.  and well here i am.

Hello everyone, my name is Matthew Kirscht.

I was born in 1973, and was obsessed with monsters from the get go. I coveted a friends Universal Monster Lunchbox, played with Remco mini monsters alongside with Star Wars figures & Micronauts, Loved my Marx & Mego Dinosaurs, Had great games like Mostly Ghostly & I vant to Bite your Finger, and various other Monster Magazines, cards & whatnot.

I saw Collectible Toys & Values #12 with the feature on Monster toys in 1991 or so and was blown away by all the great stuff. I collected vintage monsters heavily from the early 90's to about 2001 when I sold off all of my collections to make the leap from Day Job to Professional Artist.

Last month I came across two mint empty Aurora Model Boxes & caught the fire again. I have since picked up some fun things like a Phantom flicker ring, AHI Creature Bendy, Wolfman Glass, Monster Old Maid & some of the new Aurora reissues. Now I must find more!!!

I am a painter and print maker selling art in galleries, I also run a Halloween art company called "Shiverbones" which makes very limited edition Halloween oriented die cuts, postcards, trading cards, lanterns,  board games and more. I recently completed a Wacky Packages painting for the most recent Topps postcard series and am working on two more paintings for them now.

spideydroogy

Hello,

My name is Mark and I currently reside in Charlotte, NC.  I combined my love of movies and Spider-man into my screen name spideydroogy.  Droogy comes from " A Clockwork Orange".  Droog is Russian for friend.  I believe the character of Alex fits into the category of monster.  I watch as many movies as I can, with my favorite genre being horror.  I recently purchased five new monster model kits because I have a renewed interest in model building.  I built a ton of models from the ages of 7-13.  I lost interest during my destructive teen years and burnt or blew up with firecrackers/bottle rockets 95% of my models including the Aurora monster models I had.  Ouch! That hurts just to type that sentence.   I was looking for sites regarding model building techniques and found this interesting forum.  I hope to post some photos of my new models once I finish building them.  Don't hold your breath.  I might be awhile.
