Oh wow, I'd love to flip through that thing!   Are there any pictures of masks?

Most of the stuff is illustrations.  You can buy baby alligators and live monkeys, and there are some politically incorrect ads also.

The Phantom Creep

Man those Johnson Smith and Company catalogs are the best!! I love flipping through those except that I end up wanting about half the stuff in there.  :P

Can someone pretty please post a pic of the 7ft Frank and skeleton from HOU?

Are they in color, and does the skeleton have that jagged stuff like in the pic on the site?

Finally, I get something done around here. Here's the long awaited pic that I promised. Sorry for the delay Jason.

The House Of The Unusual 7' Monster poster is a black and white poster. It is huge too. 7' tall as advertised; all on one sheet of paper. Unlike the original poster, this one doesn't need to have two sections taped together. I wish it would have been in color, but it's still pretty striking in it's appearance and size. I believe Eddie said it would have cost him an arm and a leg to have this produced in color and on poly like the original. I don't see what the problem would be in losing an arm or a leg. Your born with two of each, aren't you?  ;D

And oh yeah .. the price was right too! Just $9.99 as opposed to thousands!

The startup cost was a whooping $9039.00 for mechanical and first run... Very dangerous if you don't know how well they would sell....

They are in black and white....And no the skeleton does not have jagged edge....
What is funny is that the reprint of Boney looks better than original for some reason. When you see original you say OK??? In the reprint you say wow!!! I guess this happend because the print being in black and white looks better. The original is a little brown like.

Thanks for the pic Terry, he looks Great. And glad to hear the skeleton is not jagged. I can't wait to ad these to my walls.  I've wanted a 7ft Frank and Skeleton since I was a youngster

As Felix Flanken might say, "Golly wow!!"  So that's the MOON MONSTER...

I used to have a 1977 Johnson Smith catalog--ten cents at the time, or something like that, and now it would take millions of dollars to get one--and this thing was really incredible.  Weird stuff, novelty stuff, magic, masks, jokes......it was just dense with readable material and most of the crap they were selling (I figure) was better to imagine than to actually get.  Thousands of totally pointless yet invaluable items.
Beautiful moving, shifting colors!

Just have to tip my hat to you for the reference. Mad Monster Party's in the top three of my favorite films of all time.

Johnson Smith was great (last I heard, the still existed, down in Florida? Though not like the grand old days...)

And not all they sold was crap! The crystal radios & hand-cranked Cragstan/Brumberger-type 8mm projectors actually worked!

As well, they sold some name-brand stuff: Castle films, MPC models, etc.

Best,

Jim Bertges

If I'm not mistaken Johnson Smith is currently putting out catalogs of usless, but interesting crap under the names Betty's Attic and Stuff You Never Knew Existed.
You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.
