A friend was supposed to have someone coming along but the person cannot go; there has been a change of plans, and the friend now has a discount membership for all three days.  PM me if you are interested in purchasing it from him. He will be at the Bash Thursday evening.

I have to ask, Scatter...what is it you hate so much about Florida?

Would you like it alphabetized, or in order of distaste?  

I hate the weather.

I hate that there's no winter.

I hate that there's no spring.

I hate that there's no fall.

I hate that you can't have a basement.

I hate that attic space is unusable.

I hate the weather.

I hate flat terrain.

I hate the beach.

I hate the deplorable public school system.

I hate driving with blue-haired old ladies who can't see over the steering wheel.

I hate hurricanes threatening for a solid 5 months a year.

I hate 99% humidity which makes me sweat through a shirt every 30 seconds.

I hate the weather.

I hate the Dolphins, the Marlins,the Panthers and the Buccaneers.

I hate swamps instead of beautiful forests.

I hate the lack of a functional mass transit system.

I hate the weather.

I hate bugs larger than my hands.

I hate that 5 minutes from my golf course community it looks like the set of "Deliverance" complete with bigoted rednecks.

I hate panhandlers on every street corner, who apparently love the weather.

I hate living in one of the highest crime rates in the country.

I hate Jimmy Buffet.

I hate the weather.

Now, to be fair, there are many good things about living in Florida too. But it's just not for me.  I won't be here forever though, God willing. And, I'm actually an extremely happy person, but the Florida thing has become such an in-joke now that I enjoy playing it up!!

I and my brothers went down there (from MN)  last April on our way to a cruise. The girls are marvelous........but I've already got one of those who is so wonderful in my eyes that competition is impossible.And California has all my passions rooted in its DNA, so I disagree there.

Scatter, I invite you to explore the frozen tundra here in Minneapolis for true relief. Christmas in Minneapolis looks like Christmas too.

I feel exactly the same way........I adore winter! I grew up where it looked like Christmas too (Connecticut) and I really miss it. I'd MUCH rather be cold than hot and sticky. My favorite season of all is the fall, then the spring. Summer?? I like it, just not all year long.

In spite of a late start and clouds, dark and pendulous, all the way, we got to western PA pretty much on schedule, checked in our lodgings, had dinner and got over to Bash and got our registration. First guest siting as Julie Adams walked through the lobby, and its unmistakably her.
      There's a kool Kong figure looming in the hallway, complete with the Fay Wray Barbie in hand, and over in the bushes keeping watch is a Saucer-Man. Saw many of the usual suspects looming the halls. And got a preview for next year's theme...classic vampires. So in 2011 we may expect Caroline Monroe, Coleen Grey and the star of "Return of Dracula" with Francis Lederer, Norma Eberhardt (sp?) and more.  I would say I can hardly wait, but 2010 is just ready to begin.

Whoa. Gotta agree on a couple of those. I don't like what Mr. Buffet has done to Key West. I don't like the bums. I don't like the crime, but Florida has always seemed to have a high crime rate.

Scatter, in your opinion, why does Florida have so much crime?
