Hey, there is a family resemblance!
Sorry your little sweetie's's gone.

Wolf Man

Ok, I hope this doesn't overwhelm anyone but we are truly animal lovers.

Wicked Lester, it was great to see a Chow.  I raised four Chows from birth till death.  The matriarch lived the longest at 17 years.  She died under our Christmas Tree in my arms.  I will forever miss my Chow family, Heidi, Caesar, Little Girl and T-Rex.

Here are my kitties, my wife has made me a kitty man.

This is Dori, named after the lovable fish on Finding Nemo.  She was a kitten being tortured by Kuwaiti kids.  They were grabbing her by her neck and dumping her in a bucket of water.  She is our precious little gift.  I brought her home on my last R&R.  My wife loves her to death.  She is the most playful kitty ever.

Here is Kitty, my wife calls her Grandma now.  She is our oldest and a softy.  She is a very sweet cat.  Dori torments her always trying to play with her.  She just tolerates it.

In memorium.  Our beloved Noopy died on my last R&R when I brought Dori home from Kuwait.  She hung on while sick for four days and died the night before I left.  She was sick for about three weeks with inoperable cancer.  We got to say our goodbyes and gave her lots of kisses.  It was like she would not go while I was still home.  The shock came when I returned to Kuwait and my precious little guy Dini died the next night after Noopy.  I was and still am heartbroken.  We rescued Dini, full name Houdini when his mother abandoned him in some old Jeep parts I had in the back yard.  He was the size of the palm of my hand.  He grew to be a very large male cat.  He was only four years old and I thought I would have many years left with him when I returned from contracting.  He died of pancreatic cancer and never showed any symptoms.  We took him to the vet only days before he died.  They did an autopsy for free because his death was a big blow to them as well.  It is very hard for me to even look at his photos without tearing up because we both loved him fiercely with all our hearts.

Our precious Dini:

It appears the Monster fans are just big softies with great big old tender hearts.  Thank you all for sharing the pictures of your pets.  I enjoyed every one and feel for all of you who have lost those fine companions.  Every pet has a personality all their own and cannot be replaced.

I have recently rescued another Kuwaiti cat.  My wife named him Buddy.  He is a black and white that looks like Sylvester the cat on Looney Tunes.  He was badly dehydrated and had a stomach virus but I have nursed him to a fine healthy state.  He is now a large male with ultra fine soft fur and is so loving.  He is also the smartest cat I have ever seen.  My roomates here think he is like a trained dog and will understand and obey commands.  He also likes to heal when I walk and follows me like an obedient trained dog, I have never seen anything like it.  I don't have any photos to share yet but I will take some soon.

Thanks to all of you for giving these small loving creatures a good home and lots of love.  Lord knows they deserve it.

Wolf Man. It is an honor to have people like you on our board. Dori would not be alive if it were not for you. Great looking clan there and I'm sorry for all the losses.
It appears there are at least several of us that take in the homeless animals no one else wants.
We are on cat #11 with 3 still being around. It's always an adventure. Keep up the good work people. 8)

I want to share some pics of Cal with you.  He has been gone for about 2 years now.  He was an English Bulldog who lived an extremely healthy life for almost 10 years.  He was a person to us.  He dies 8 weeks before my youngest was born, but my 6 year old has fond memories of him.  I'm not going to try to encapsulate his life and meaning to me here---I couldn't.  Let it be known though, that I owe HIM.  He saved me nearly 12 years ago.

Here he is enjoying birthday 'cake', which was two 1/4 pound beef patties decorated with Easy Cheese with his name on top.  The tradition was he wore a hat (a different one each year) as he ate his cake and we sang to him and laughed.

Here he is sleeping IN his bed after eating the zipper and climbing inside to get comfy.

We all miss you, Cal.

Wolf Man

Thanks for the kind words Wicked Lester, and great looking best friend there Sean.

I forgot to mention that I have Buddy's shots and little kitty passport all ready.  I go down next Monday to the Ministry of Animals to get his final travel papers and then we have a long journey home to Virginia.  He will love it there.  I have a large house compared to my small apartment here in Kuwait so he will have lots of places to explore and two other kitty sibs to play with.  The guys here can't believe that I am taking another cat home since it can be expensive but what is money in the long run when you are talking about your Buddy.  He will have a good home and a pleasant life for the rest of his life.

And, he is a little chatter box.  He will sit there and have a conversation with you as if he knows what you are saying.  Never seen anything like it.

I bet we could all write a book about our pet stories.

Good job everyone.

Dude;.......you just FREAKED me out. When I saw this pic I thought you had mounted a cat's head on your wall like a deer or a moose. Let's play "Pick the trophy head"........

We're all here because we're not all there.

That is hilarious.  I never looked at the picture that way but now that you mention it.....

My wife takes all the pictures and she sure gets some great ones.  I have to tell her about that one.  That is so funny.

Cal looks like he was great little buddy. That pic in the hat is priceless.
As much as I like our cats over the years there is something about a dog that is like having a perpetual 3 Y.O.

Love that English Bulldog.  :)

Thanks.  He drew a crowd wherever we went.  He was a babe magnet... but little kids went to him, old men, everybody.

Wolf Man

I agree about the hat, that is priceless, he looks like he did not mind wearing it either.

I used to dress up Heidi my black female Chow for Halloween.  She wore a head piece with lighted skulls and a skull necklace with bones on it.  She was very cute.  She and my other chows were pre-digital camera and I have yet to scan and file all my photos of them.  Another project from home.

My wife sends her compliments to all the soft hearted pet owners of the UMA.  She found this whole thread a wonderful idea.  She is very impressed by all the love for our pets.

That's like my dog--people fuss over him to the point he expects it. If someone makes eye contact, he'll walk up to them saying "pet me" with his eyes.

Here he is with a friend.

What I don't understand is the number of people I don't know who greet him by name when we're out walking.

This is him waiting for trick or treaters:

Opera Ghost

Need to locate some Karloff Pictures, but here was his first, at 4 weeks before he arrived from Australia. He is a 15th generation Labradoodle
"In each of us, two natures are at war--the good and the evil. All our lives the fight goes on between them, and one of them must conquer..."

Wolf Man

Karloff, what a cool name.  Did you just make that up?  ;D I bet you found that name in some old book of names huh?  ::)
