LOL...eh, no...always had a friend or two with me. The most notorious had a pair of eyes was alleged to have been cut out by one of the workers and stuck up high and stared down at you from the rafter eves as a warning to stay out.  As a teen, we finally got a flashlight and discovered it was only a pair of nail holes!

Yes, there was lots of creepy quiet streets in my town, and hundreds of narrow dark alleyways that were pretty creepy at night.

Just sort of one instance...My father recalled "The Night that Panicked America"...Wells' B'cast of War of the Worlds. As they heard the disclaimer, they knew it wasn't an actual invasion, and settled a couple of neighbors, but incidents were reported in the Newspapers for weeks afterwards.
