I wanted to post this today, in case i got busy at work, but tomorrow Febuary 2 is the day that MONSTERLAND lost a true great one. On Feb.2 1969, the monster world lost Boris Karloff.
Even a man who is pure in heart, and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf, when the wolfbane blooms, and the moon is full and bright, AAHHOOoooo

BUT thanks to his daughter Sara and groups like the UMA, his legacy lives on.

I am the Female Dracula

My friend's birthday is tomorrow.... I enjoy reminding her about Karloff's death being on the same day.... no doubt she's getting annoyed!

As for the poll at the top of the page, I always thought Boris was too sweet to be scary. He really was, in a word, a legend.
"Supernatural? Perhaps. Baloney? Perhaps not. There are many things under the sun...."

I have mentioned this before and will re-tell it briefly--I remember EXACTLY where I was when I found out that Boris had passed.  The evening of 2 Feb, 1969 I was in a bar in Oxford OH, with a girl named Nancy--and as we were leaving, we paused at a booth where a friend of Nancy's was with some other people, and one of the guys in the booth was obviously very distraught about something.  Nancy asked, "What's wrong?"  And the answer was, "He just found out that Boris Karloff died."  What a shock it was to hear that!  And what a loss to the world of film.  He was a true gentleman.

I was in 7th grade...  and I cried a little.
" Perhaps he dimly wonders why, there is no other such as I. "

I was in 10th grade, in North Plainfield, New Jersey, when they broke in on WNEW and showed 3 pictures:  The famous one of the Monster staring down Una O'Connor, a picture of the Grinch, and a portrait of an elegant, elderly man...deeply tanned, with snow white hair and deep brown eyes.  I knew immediately what it meant, and cried.

" To live in Hearts we leave behind, is not to die."

"....I do hope he won't upset Henry..."

Cheers to Boris!

You are missed, but not forgotten
