They are 2 3/4" tall.

Got my first Pencil sharper today in the mail. I didn't realize these were made of a blow mold plastic. I was thinking they were hard plastic.

Yeah.  They are pretty soft plastic.

A have seen a very that have hardened a little over the years.  It makes it more difficult to remove/replace the actual sharpener unit in the base.  Normally, it is no big deal to stretch the bottom open just enough to pry the little guy out. 

Since the heads and sharpeners come in random colors, I have switched mine around to match up as best as possible.

ya i just got my first one. It's a Etta the Ghoul one in purple. I would like some day to have a full display. for some reason these things have a soft spot in my heart.

Dan, that's some interesting food for thought - never looked at it that way. However I usually regard "original" to mean "original issue" or "original year(s) of issue", and not just something that came from the original mold.

Otherwise, it's gonna get reaaaalllly confusing referring to things using Dante's "original mold" criteria - for example, every Bill Lemon-sculpted Mummy kit ever issued - from the Aurora longbox to the Frightening Lightning to the Aurora Glow squareboxes to the Monogram to the Luminator to the Polar Lights - would all be referred to as "original" as they all came from the "original" Aurora mold first used in 1963... yikes!

I agree with you. An item shouldn't/can't be classified as an "original" unless it's from the original years of issue.

I usually call something that came from an original mold, but not from the original production period a RE-Pop(Repopped from the original mold). and for my collecting purposes I'm happy with either an Original or a Repop.  Plastic isn't worth any more to me because it's old.  I'm perfectly happy with my Polar Lights kits.

While I agree that anything not from the original production period should be classified as a repop, I see a very strong difference between officially authorized repops such as the Polar Lights kits and unsanctioned under the table repops. The latter to me constitute unethical breaches of copyright and are worthless to me. And before anyone raises the question, no I've never downloaded music or movies from Napster or any other unsanctioned source.

one was from the warehouse find from sometime ago.     Been  a  long time this thread has been read but jumping up and down with joy that I am getting some kick grave dirt Monster Pencil Sharpeners.

Here's an old pic of mine. Funny thing is my two Mummys are different shades of green, one light and one dark. I wonder if that is common.

I've never seen a Mummy offered for sale in any color except green.

Back in the early 90's I knew guys who had hundreds maybe thousands of these.... I remember thinking at the time they were repops but still bought 500 and sold them in my store for $2.00 ea. for years. The lack of Frankensteins just meant they did not have the franky mold is what I assumed. I have a carded Wolfman in white so I know they are vintage as well as an orange, green and grey Frankenstein on cards.
