Wonderful Arnold Stang has passed at the age of 91.  Most here will likely remember Stang as one of the two unfortunate guys (Ray, to Marvin Kaplan's Irwin) who ran the gas station in MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD, but some fans may recall him in Schwarzenegger's first American film appearance as the nebbishy cab driver in HERCULES IN NEW YORK.  When this elderly Elder was a kid, Stang was a regular on the Milton Berle tv show and his appearance before the camera was invariably met with a great reaction from the audience.  I also fondly remember his commercials for Chunky ("Wotta chunk o' choc'late!").  Stang did a LOT of voice work, too.  You have heard his voice even if you don't know his face.

His best known voice characters were probably Top Cat and also Herman from Herman & Katnip.

When I was a kid, Herman the mouse (who gave Katnip the cat a rough time) was one of my favorite cartoons AND comics!

He was also the original Honey Nut Cheerios Bee and the Turtle in Pinocchio in Outer Space... a distinct voice and a memorable fellow.
91's a nice age though. A fine run.

Ray & Irwin's Garage was destroyed on it's 1st day of business-----one of the greatest scenes in movie history from 'Mad, Mad, Mad'....
